After getting all ten races in 2021 and nine out of ten last year, this year's forecast looks absolutely terrible for the entire Speedweek, with some sort of rain predicted for almost a week straight. It is a shame because the tracks rely on strong fan attendence during Speedweeks to make up for some of the deficits from other races throughout the year. I sure would not want to be a promoter in today's world.

Maybe that's why Lincoln is charging for camping this year. That way they can suck more money out of us even if they don't race.

Late next week we may get on some races. This weekend certainly looks like a wash. Lost count of how many times the Grove rained out this year.

Chance of Thunderstorms hit and miss for the weekend into Monday certainly not a total washout so hopefully the tracks that have the races them nights avoid the thumderstorms and it looks like after Tuesday forecast improves but that is a long way off!

I'm usually an optimist, but living in one of the worst states weather-wise, it is conceivable that Speedweek may not start till next Friday at the Mitch Smith Memorial and run only 4 shows. That would totally suck.

I'm pretty sure they still haven't realized they were duped.

I was wondering how the weather is so far for the PA Speedweek. Would that be allowed in this thread?

What year did they get in all ten? Was that 2020? I remember it was brutally hot at a few of the races, especially the Monday race at Lincoln.

I think 2020 they were 9 for 9.  2021 they lost the Saturday race of the 9.

Back to the original topic if you please; I wonder who gets first dibs on the Thursday off-day. Personally I hope it's Hagerstown if this weather stays like this that long. Teams would already be there or near there on Wednesday.

Yeah, a couple of the regular DB's jacked a current speedweek weather thread but thanks for getting back on topic with your interesting question. I'm thinking the open date may go to the grove and it would be a two day show which might save travel on the teams and fans. The grove has had a ton of rain outs this year and Kreitzer might feel sorry for them and help them out.

Also, provided Port Royal completes their Monday show, Tuesday, July 4th is another obvious choice for a make up race for someone.   Port Royal does have Tuesday as a scheduled rain date so they would get it first if Monday July 3rd rains out.

I said a little prayer to the weather Gods

You're welcome, HTD

Lincoln is in a NO WIN situation tonight. The sun will peak out from time to time today, but they are calling for isolated showers throughout the night. If they pull the plug early, people will moan and complain that they could have raced. If they try to race, half the fans will stay home because of the iffy weather. There are not enough Die Hard fans left these days to support today's purses, and half of those folks do not show up anymore if the weather is questionable because of the economy. A bad spot for a Promoter.

I'm glad I live close enough to a few tracks to make last minute decisions due to weather. The forcast looks pretty sketchy for a while. Speedweek is a huge deal for the fans, the teams, and promoters but it will have a few less races this year, its unfortunate but maybe some of these rainouts will enable some teams to save some resources for later in the season. The economy is surely hurting the fan base but I wouldn't lose sleep over Lincoln's promoters going through a hardship, they live pretty well. BTW who is handling track prep at the fabulous anymore, this could be strawsers opportunity to put up or shut up.
