The Urine Test

Like a lot of folks in this country...I have a job. I work, they pay me. I pay my taxes and the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit. In order to get that paycheck, I am required to pass a random urine test, with which I have no problem. What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test. Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check because I have to pass one to earn it for them? Please understand, I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet. I do on the other hand have a problem with helping someone sitting on their butt and using drugs. Could you imagine how much money the state would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance check?

Can you imagine how many people on staff and faculty at university's and colleges would get the boot if they had to pass a piss test? Who pisses first?

I absolutely agree with nodust. I wonder how many people issuing those Welfare checks can pass a piss test. I bet you would be surprised.

Why not have EVERYBODY passing a random drug test ? That way we can end this "war on drugs" B.S. that costs us billions of dollars every year and accomplishes squat !

Additionally, it will generate a new testing industry that can put a lot of American folks to work......they won't be shipping that stuff overseas !

contruction workers must submit to random testing if they work on projects with federal, state or local money so why shouldn't politicians, lawyers and other assorted scumbags who are paid by taxpayer money fall under the same guidelines?

BRR is correct about construction workers drug test, but what about the state inspectors, administrators and managers etc? I once worked for a CM firm on a California State Prison project and we had about 12 people. None of us were ever tested, not even a random test. Also the State of California had over 20 administrators, inspectors, managers and others and they were never tested. Why wern't we tested? I can assure you that many could not have passed.

It has also become common place that most employeers don't have an effective random testing proceedure, why? Could the answer be it would cause a much higher turnover rate?

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/drugs/special/math.html

.....The single largest marketplace for illegal drugs continues to be the United States. Although the market has decreased dramatically since its heyday in the mid-80's, close to thirteen million Americans still think nothing about occasionally buying a gram of cocaine, a few hits of ecstasy or a quarter ounce of weed to party with their friends on the weekends.......

Yep the way I see it, since 13 million use illegal drugs it makes sense to test 300 million Americans. Who's going to pay for the 7.5 trillion dollars to test each one of us once a year?

While you're trying to fix the world why don't employers put a scale at the door. Anyone too fat goes home.

2002 - Researchers say obesity costs in the U.S. totaled up to $92.6 billion last year, and government-funded public insurers Medicare and Medicaid financed about half of those expenses.

why don't they just legalize all drugs. then the government can produce it themselves and tax it and all the worthless people can pay for their own welfare.

I agree with nodust. Welfare is to help a family get back on its feet. Not help them score some more drugs. Each area should hire a case worker to go around and make house calls and give these tests and also see how the money looks like it is being spent. Open fridges and doors to see if food is on shelves. If you want the money you will let the person see what you seem to be spending it on in your home.

I also agree with BRR, Their are alot of people in places that need to be drug tested too. D.A.'s, Judges, Lawyers, Political figures. I go through major tests to be a cop. Piss tests, some blood tests, Lie Detectors to see if I ever did take drugs.

We also still need to find a way to make sure Child Support is going to the right causes. So many dead beat mothers get the kids, file for child support, then spend their $400 a month on drugs and stuff for them self. While the kids sit with no food or clothes.

13 million using drugs and 13 million obese? Coincidence? I think you may have cause and effect at work here.

Seriousely, no one will ever be able to get drugs off the streets. Prohibition should have taught us that. Why continue to spend billions of dollars a year on the inevitable? Especially when you could make billions in taxes off the same.

Why don't do random tests for alcohol? Or is it okay to kick back a couple shots of Jack before going on shift?

Menards use to do alcohol tests. When I cut my arm open there I had to go to the hospital and piss in a cup and take a breath-a-lizer. I had to wait 2 hours cause no one was in the lab and they paid a good penny to have a person come in from home at midnight and test me in the lab.

They do it to all their employees if you mess something up. If you back into something with a forklift and cause $X amount in damages. Off you go for a piss and alcohol test at the hospital.

Not even close on the 13 million with obesity.

About 32% of Americans are obese.

32% of 300 million is 96,000,000.
