NOMINEES ANNOUNCED FOR ’07 POST-SEASON NORTH AMERICAN NON-WINGED SPRINT CAR POLL AWARDS

KNOXVILLE, IOWA (December 4, 2007) - The names of the nominees for the 2007 North American Non-Winged Sprint Car Poll post-season awards were released today by poll founder and coordinator Tom Schmeh. The select 24-member voting panel, representing media members, manufacturers, promoters and sanctioning officials, is currently in the final balloting process, and the names of the seven award recipients will be revealed later this week during the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) Trade Show in Orlando, Florida. The nominees for the 2007 North American Non-Winged Sprint Car Poll post-season awards, excluding Driver of the Year, are as follows:

Team of the Year: Mark & Steve Alexander, Brad & Steve Fox, Tony Stewart.

Rookie of the Year: Jeff Bland, Jr., Justyne Hamblin.

Builder/Manufacturer of the Year: Joe Devin, Chuck Merrill.

Media Member of the Year: Doug Auld, Bobby Gerould, Rob Klepper, Dean Mills.

Promoter of the Year: Tom Helfrich, Don Kazarian, Jim Naylor.

Wild Card Award (for exciting sprint car performances): Robert Ballou, Daron Clayton, Jon Stanbrough.

Outstanding Contribution to the Sport Award: Tom Deery, Glenn Howard (deceased), Dick Jordan, Kasey Kahne, Greg Staab.

The North American Sprint Car Poll post-season awards, like the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame induction awards, are official programs of the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum Foundation, Inc. The Outstanding Contribution to the Sport Award is the only poll award voted on by members of all three voting panels (‘360’, ‘410’, Non-Winged). Those seeking more information should visit the museum’s web site at www.sprintcarhof.com.

How come Lance Jennings of SCRAFAN.com has never been nominated for "media member" or "contributor" of the sport of wingless sprint car racing? SCRAFAN.com is about as "NONWING" as you can get!

I agree with you 100% Sean. Lance has done so much for us in the west and keeps us informed so very well. He is very deserving of a nomination and an award!! No one I know works any harder to promote the sport of non-winged racing in the internet media.

Thats a very good question Sean and Cliff. How about an answer from the select 24 on that? Who nominates the people in question anyway? The Colonel

I am one of the voters and Lance has been on my ballot every year including this year for the "Outstanding Contribution to the Sport Award." The guy deserves the award as he just busts his rear end on SCRAfan.com and the other web sites he maintains. Lance's dedication to the sport is second to none.

Not to mention being a crewman on the championship winning team.

I couldn't agree more. Does Lance ever sleep? When CRA isn't running at Perris Lance will be at Ventura, or Victorville, or where ever there's a nonwing event, notepad and camera in hand, documenting the upcoming carnage. If the award was based on commitment alone he should walk away with it.

I thought I could save it.

Everything you know is wrong.
