Williams Grove has been doing this for 2 years now. It's nice to see another track increasing purses.

I think you'd have to be a complete and total moron not to appreciate how far Port Royal has come over the years......

It's leading the way for sure but all the central Pa tracks have been improving the last dozen years. What Port is doing is raising the bar for the other tracks.

You are correct----A+ on all accounts. I hope to get there someday. But from what I've seen on TV, the track is wide and the racing is great! Your positive reviews are always appreciated!!

It's really great to see all the area tracks making huge strides in improving their overall product. Even when they swing and miss, I see more effort now than I've seen in any other era of the sport that I've been around and it's from all of them. Baps isn't a weekly 410 track but they're certainly a big part of the circuit and they, like Port, took a facility that was borderline fit to be condemned and a track that had no clay left on it, and turned it into a facility that will now host a WoO show. Williams Grove is finally seeing the bridge project come to fruition after lots of unforseen delays, Lincoln has really cleaned things up with the new drainage, picnic area, improved fencing and a very well done new seating project. It's really great to see these tracks getting the love that they deserve and hopefully, the fans will show up and support them all and give them a nice return on their investments. Teams as well. I don't think there's ever been a bad time to be in Central PA but right now, it's definitely a great time to be a sprint car fan in our area.

Agreed. That buttclown does not realize that his jerkoff comments only make people look further into the track and want to go see for themselves. They make me want to go to see how wrong he is.

Yes, 3 guys swapping the lead 4-5 times the last 3 laps was as good as it gets!!!
Rahmer was the only one who had it figured out Saturday good deep run for him, he's a Lincoln wonder for sure, glad the 10 mods didn't drag out the show.
Seeing the high quality additions of Dewease, Wagner, Wagner, Halligan, Stutts, Cisney, Flick, Ryan Taylor and Kreitz was awesome Sunday and the Super Late Models put on some very good races as well!!!! Got home in time to watch the 2 A's for the WoO from Florida.
Great time to be a fan for sure.

They were stagged and the next thing I knew they were headed out of staging and to the trailer. I didn't see them try to fire, but I may have missed it. No idea car looked/sounded good in the heat.

So what happens this Sunday the 12th if both of Port's Friday and Saturday shows are cancelled due to weather? Port will run the Outlaws on Sunday the 12th, a one-day show, what happens with Williams Grove and their opener?

You pay over $600 dollars for the 2 rear tires and most teams run only 1 week on a set of tires. Most week end racers do not get alot of sponsor money. So you make $500 but spend another $1000 to get ready to race and you worry about when in need to send engine in for a $10,000 or more rebuild. It is a big problem as track has to make enough to keep track open and how much more will fans pay for a ticket to help increase purse.

Ticket price is staying the same. This isn't a business where everyone is a winner. Geez you can't make some happy.

Racers race WITH money----theirs or someone elses-------not FOR money. The purse is a bonus. Trying to pencil out expenses and purses will drive you mad. It doesn't work without a load of money to start with, or a big sponsor slapped on the side of your hauler.

Racing 410 sprints hasn't made much financial sense for many decades but more purse money still helps. It still requires a lot of money from people who do it just for love of the sport. The only way to make a small fortune in racing is to start out with a large fortune.

You can find the last year's purse on this website.
http://www.sprintcarratings.com/Purse.aspx?Purse=Wing%20410%20Track
Has a lot of great information. The Grove did pay 5k to win last year, but for every other position except for first, Port paid the same if not more than they did.
