No official announcement as of yet but apparently I-30 Speedway in Little Rock is in the process of being sold to Copart.    Apparently this company is targeting race tracks as easy for land takeovers.    This may be what's happening at Grandview and also at Concord Speedway in North Carolina.   Does the Short Track Nationals move to another place or just go away?   Will be interesting to see how it plays out I guess.

I don't know if it's true but I heard a while back that I-30 was in a situation where they were allowed to operate but could not make any improvements (maybe permits withheld, don't know how that would work if true) so the writing has been on the wall for a while.  If I-30 does close I would like to see STN go to West Memphis. Or maybe Lone Star.  How short does the track have to be lol?

I'm originally from Memphis, so I wouldn't mind seeing it go to Riverside.   I'd also think you couldn't really get a shorter track than that from the Short Track Nationals...

All the way on the west coast (literally <1/4 mile from the ocean), Ventura is a 1/5 mile track that has hosted winged 410s (King of the West, I believe) at least once. Not saying move it there, but that's true short track racing! Fighter jets in a gymnasium I believe they called it.

Bring back the 410s and make it an Outlaw race.  Use any format that works well and it can be a non-points race like the Knoxville Nationals.  My suggested location is the short track (.26 mile) with the largest spectator capacity - Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Missouri.

could West Memphis even do it as a "sprints only" event like I-30, I say that cause they have some sort of sprint special there at Riverside the weekend after the STN, I thinks it's called the Ding Dong 40 or something like that, but they have sprints and 7-8 support classes, which is a big hell naw for me and my gang.

I with you, if they're running a bunch of other classes I'm out!   I don't think the STN could be held at Riverside under their current management.   It would have to happen with someone else's promotion and them leasing the facility.

As I recall facility was leased to promoting team, and no improvements were made because the land owner wouldn't compensate for it. I doubt the STN will return in any shape or form, anywhere else. Frankly, it had been dying a prolonged , slow death already....

Really sorry to see this happen to fans and teams of the track. The same thing is happening here in PA with Grandview and Copart.

[Pevely is .333 mi]

Within hearing distance of Tri City Speedway

The sale of grandview at least to Copart isnt a done deal as at least for the moment the Zoning was voted down from the information I got from a credible source

Heard the same, maybe get another year out of the place, but we all know money talks and wheels get greased.

That is true about the Grandview sale, but Copart has already amended their zoing request and filed it again with Washington Township. I know this could just be a coincidence, but I think it is an ominous sign that Passmore Rd. by the track was just repaved in recent weeks.

The family wants to sell it so if Copart is paying the big bucks and noone else has shown any interest in it you cant blame the Rogers family for selling it I would do the same thing

No one knew it was for sale until they announced that the deal with Copart was a done deal. So no one else even had the opportunity to purchase it. For that reason, I do blame the Rodgers family 100% for doing what they did. Granted, it's theirs to do whatever they please with but they know racing people well enough to know that there's a lot of people in the sport with a lot of money and people don't want to lose their track. Now if they had announced that it was for sale and no one purchased it for awhile then copart came along with the money and offered a deal, I'd understand but the way they did it was shady as hell and it fucked a lot of good people who supported that family. Many have supported them for multiple generations. I hope they choke on their money. They didn't exactly go into poverty owning that track either. They made a lot of money over the years on the fans and teams and that's the thanks they get? Absolutely disgraceful.

In the days after word of the sale leaked out, Chris Breitenstein, whose family has owned Modifieds at Grandview for over 30 years, posted online that he knew of at least two legit offers from racing people that were turned down in recent years. Breitenstein strongly hinted that one of the offers came from Doug Rose, who bought and has completely transformed the Bridgeport (N.J.) Speedway over the last couple years.

Breitenstein wrote that one of the people who tried to buy Grandview in recent years bought another area track instead when he was turned down. IMO, that seems far more plausible that the Tony Stewart rumors that are linked to every track that needs a new owner.
