Well Swanson sure beat the piss out of everyone tonight as he lapped up to 2nd place. Good to see Taylor Ferns on the podium as well.

He was probably my favorite driver. Was lucky enough to see him win in a midget on the Sacramento mile. Also got to talk to him later that night. Breifly. I re-read John Sawyer's biography on him every few years. Rapid Rich!

If there was no Rich Vogler does Jeff Gordon become a superstar? Who knows. I had this on VHS forever but somebody did a nice job uploadin to youtube.

Good question. You really could say Rich Vogler was instrumental in making Jeff Gordon a star. Needless to say, the two didn't care much for each other, from people in the"know" and from reading about Rich and Jeff. Have to say, Rich Vogler didn't care for this "little kid" being a threat to his own stardom. Several racing people back then made this comment in interviews.
