And now for my annual critique of the most important & prestigous victory cermony in all of sports.
- Brent Marks, a most humble & gracious winner did a fabulous job. He showed lots of respect for the institution, properly dropping to one knee to be formally crowned.
- The scepter was beautifully adorned as usual, but the Crown is still too top heavy and cartoonishly out of proportion.
- The throne, in all of its treated lumber glory is now approaching 40 has been cared for well.
- The red carpet needs to extend down across the inside pit wall and up the track for at least 48".
- I'd like to see the winning car on track, with the winner ascending up the carpet to the throne, Lose the side entrance.
- The lavish gold tapestry needs to be return, and vinyl backdrop needs to go away yesterday.
- The twin spire torch flames need to be brought back, and I'd like to see a formal lighting cermony (perhaps by a celebrity) earlier in the evening to officially start the event.
- The High Priest: Jac Haudenschild, a wonderful choice, kept it quite casual as you would expect, even going off script adding "Hell of a job" to Brent.
- The 2 Earls appeared to be outfitted in period correct footwear so that's an improvement over last years debacle.
- I'd like to see the Eldora trophy girls class it up a little and change into some formal eveningwear, albeit just for the victory ceremonies.
- Lastly, do I even need to say anything about the kid on the mic referring the Crown as a 'hat'? Fireable offense, period.
