Tim Shaffer is really just a name to me, being so far from the tracks etc but I know he has won some serious events over the years. When I read he was gonna be an Allstar regular I was expecting him to be top 5 many nights, top 10 almost always. This isnt happening. Was I expecting more than he has in the tank at this stage of his life/career or is he under performing?

there are so many things involved. Can his car owner afford $60.000 engines, pit crew chassis set ups, luck and driver a little older. You could ask Donny Schautz the same thing. There are so many things that happen it is hard to say any certain thing.

He doesn't have the best car, he's 54, the All Stars have a pretty competitive roster etc....

The car he's in now is not near the equipment of the Rudzik 49 he was in for years prior. Shaffer in the rudzik 49 was a top 15 driver in the country.

he is a former Knoxville Nationals Champion...that puts him in an Elite group I'd say.
