Wouldn't it be nice if Tony would build new modern grandstands at Eldora. It's shameful he makes fans sit on 50 year old boards. A new grandstand would pay for itself in one year.

WTH? nothing wrong with em. Just wish he'd build a second tier above the roof and get rid of the hillside stands and bring back the camper parking

How could a grandstand pay for itself?
Even though I may not know you, I

I always envisioned an upper deck grandstand high above 'the wall' in turn 4 built over top of that concrete access road next to the pond. Sorta like the E Penthouse section at IMS. That would be a great view.
But yes, keep the wood planks, I grew up on those seats.

Just say the old wooden stands at Eldora hold three thousand people and Tony and replaced it with stands like Knoxville's back stretch an it had seating for 10,000 wouldn't that eventually pay for itself

I was thinking the same. The attendance is pretty much what the attendance is going to be. Sounds like an expense---not that I'm opposed to an upgrade, but there would have to be some serious attendance uptick for new grandstands to pay for themselves quickly.

Because their names are similar, I sometimes get ginelmore confused with glhayden. It makes for some interesting reading, especially when their posts follow one another.

It worked at Port Royal. They probably have 3 times the seating they used too since they added the aluminum high rise bleachers and they get packed for big races. Not sure if it would be possible at Eldora but the seating situation there is pretty dreadful. It would be a huge improvement. More people might actually show up knowing they will be able to find a good place to sit.

I like Eldora just like it is. One of a kind. I'd be happy if it stayed as is.

As I said, I'm all for upgrades in seating. I wish every track would/could do it. But Eldora has massive crowds and I doubt those massive crowds would reach a "even more-massive" amount if the seating was upgraded. So, the argument about Eldora having new bleachers "pay for themselves" is kinda out in my book. Would new bleachers be great and a huge imrovement------------absolutely yes. Just addressing the argument about paying for them. (and yes, I know Tony is financially set, but that was not the proposed argument)
New bleachers and improvements would work wonders at other tracks around the world though....................

It was reported that the beer sale profits from the Kings Royal weekend alone last year were bigger than the gross domestic product of at least 13 countries.

They limited the truck races to thirty thousand. But have had larger crowds.

I was kind of thinking the same thing about some of your stuff Murphy. I've never been down Eldora unfortunately. It was just a thought that if you replaced a old wooden grandstand. With a new modern aluminum grandstand that had more seating. And it always seems like Eldora is sold out for the big races that you would make more money and it would pay for itself. But like I said I've never been there maybe there's not room maybe there's not enough interest

If you sell out get more bleachers. If you dont sell out it might be because people dont like the bleachers, so get new bleachers.
I'd the bleachers are not full there is room for improvement, unless your capacity is grandeous in a small market.

Gotta keep the old wooden boards. You couldn't write your name in the dust after hot laps in the serrated aluminum seats.

Using the insight I've gained from this this thread, I think it's obvious that Bristol could use some more grandstands.

I wouldn't mind if they upgraded the seating as far as wood planks and all that, but part of the mystique of Eldora is that covered grandstand and the area above it. Even though it's hot as fuck, you can't find a better atmosphere in sprint car racing.

The view from the covered grand stand is great. I wouldn't go back there if I didn't have a seat in the grand stand. The rest of the seating situation there is abysmal but hey I guess of the rest of the 30,000 don't mind wearing battle gear, bringing their own chairs, sitting in the grass, getting sandblasted; then why invest in modern seating? I remember my first time there, setting up the lawn chairs in some prime "seating" off of turn 4. Up close and personal, this is gonna be awesome. As soon as the green flag flew for hotlaps, we were scrambling for somewhere else to relocate our chairs.
