Nascar will never convince me super speedway racing is good. By the time the 500 was over about 3/4 of the field was involved in a accident.

The race is too long.  Too much single file racing.  Too much wrecking another driver by bumping.  Was glad it finally ended.

It's a high speed demo derby. I'm still exxcited to see how the new gen car works on other tracks.

And, people wonder why I call it TRASHCAR!

With 7 laps left they said 25 cars were in a wreck and 2 more after that. Only about 6 were out of the race.

Most of the race was double file. Never had 3 wide for more than a few seconds. Passing was crazy as Larson for example would be 15th then about 6 laps later he was 3rd and a dozen later back at 12th. Many other drivers were similar. The margin of victory was half a fender and bent cars were in contention for the win. Sprinter, Stenhouse was on track to win after sprinter Larson took out 6 cars, but got wiggly and a rookie won it on skill not fluke. Larson also took out a family owned single car Cinderella team who was poised to finish top 10 as another rookie.

I get it that this is not sprint car racing with multiple leaders per lap and lane swapping every corner but it was about as good as super speed way racing can get. It had everything including the GWC finish.

It's a different sport and needs to be looked at differently than dirt track open wheel racung.

Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

Personally I enjoyed it.  Let me back up, until the finish I thought it sucked, it was pretty well single file for a lot of what I saw, once they started double file racing it seemed to be very hard to pass and would take many laps to complete a pass and getting the right "push" or "shove" at the perfect time to pass at least for the lead.  Also there seems to be more team or manufacturer's orders than I care for.  I know there's always been team orders or people drivers prefered to draft with but I prefered the days when drivers would draft with who was going to help them and not based on what brand of car they drove.  However what saved it for me is that there was an actual race to the finish line.  This is the first Daytona 500 in a while that I remember where the guy in 2nd place didn't just dump the leader.  In the last quarter lap I think 6 different cars could've won the race.  I know there was a wreck at the finish line but it wasn't intentional in my opinion.  I know it sounds dumb to say the first 199 laps sucked and the last lap was great and saved it for me but the last few years at the finish (where the leader was wrecked) I felt cheated at the end and didn't really care who won.  For instance last year, it was a great story with Mcdowel winning but in my opinion he didn't win it, he lucked into it because Logano took out his teammate and managed to avoid the wrecks.  At least today Cindrick made some nice moves to win the race.

Started to watch and got involved with things around the house. Have watched this race the last three years (the only nascar race I watched all laps) and planned to do again.

Thought I would not be missing anything but did recognize a few more names than just Larson this time. I believe because of drivers being able to run dirt (Sprint) cars on account of Larson presence and success in Cup.

Sounds like I should have continued to the finish.

   Peace, Out.

Taxi, Taxi. Go to your nearest big city and get in the bumper to bumper rush hour traffic.

For the most part the racing is boring as hell. When a driver does get aggressive and causes something to happen everyone points a finger at him and says it was his fault. You ever watch a big city cab driver, I think that's what nascrap needs.

This kid that won sure was excited, but so was bubba, I'll leave that at that. Where did all the fans come from is what I want to no ?

It was on in my garage, muted, and when the wife said dinner was ready I clicked the remote off. That is not racing.

Lets not forget about the accident right at the checkered.  That was at least 5 cars involved.

That type of racing reminds me of a track in central PA near me.  The racing is very boring and it is a slip and slide all night long.  I would rather watch grass grow than to go to that track.

Track was crap, worst track prep I've ever seen  The racing was bad. I will never go there again. Every other track in this country must be better than that crap hole.

Agree 100%. This is why Kyle Larson DOES NOT need a Daytona 500 title to cement his legacy. The race is pure garbage and carries no weight as far as accomplishment goes. Big paycheck? Yes. Winning at any other track in Nascar (besides Talladega) is more of an accomplishment.

I agree with this as well. This is a forum where sprint car fans can have a discussion---and since a few sprint car guys were competing in the race, this makes it even more of a topic of conversation. Scroll on by if you don't like

Just tune in with 10 laps left and you'll see all that really matters.

Garbage racing. Lottery racing. 90% luck racing. It actually isn't racing. Somebody will be killed sooner than later. Did you see the shock that got lodged in the grill of Denny Hamlin's motorhome?

Blaney played it perfect and got blocked by his own teammate. NASCRAP is the only form of racing in the world where blocking ins't illegal.

What if it turns out that NASCAR is really just a reality TV show, and it's all scripted?
