Here's a few notes from last night's John Padjen Motorsports awards banquet held at the Feather Falls Casino in Oroville:
Have to thank Feather Falls Casino and John & Robbie Padjen for hosting a great banquet on Saturday night. Also want to thank all the great sponsors of the tracks’ and series’ as well as all the teams. I had a great time talking with a bunch of people as it didn’t seem like the Trophy Cup was just the weekend before. It was also nice to meet some new people last night and I look forward to seeing you all next year.
There were some great speeches given last night and it was great to see everyone let down a little bit and have some fun. I thought that Troy Hennig and Bill Sullivan did an awesome job emceeing the event. I know we mention it quite a bit, but we are truly blessed to have so many quality announcers in Northern California.
Congratulations to all the top 10 drivers and teams who were honored last night. Also special congrats to all the champions including Silver Dollar Speedway champ Stephen Allard, Civil War Series champ Andy Forsberg, Placerville Speedway champ Greg Decaires and JPM Wingless champ Brandon Davis.
Had a good time sitting with Stephen Allard and the Belton’s during the ceremony. Stephen is a great guy and one heckuva fun person to be around. I couldn’t have been happier to see him honored last night as it’s been a long time coming. SA has put in a lot of hard work over the years and there isn’t a more deserving champion than him. I know that Dan & Laurel are the ones that usually get an earful at the track, but as some said on stage, everyone appreciates your continued support as it’s a job that not many want to do.
Some of the special awards given out were Rookie of the Year for the Civil War Series and it was a co-deal this year won by Kyle Larson and Mason Moore. The Silver Dollar Speedway Rookie of the Year was given to Mason Moore and Andy Gregg was awarded with the Most Improved Driver at the track.
The promoter’s workshop is this coming week so hopefully everything goes well and we get some good schedules for next year. Look forward to seeing some of you at the Golden State Challenge banquet on January 5 and until then hope everyone has a happy and safe holiday season.
Definitely keep posted to http://www.johnpadjenmotorsports.com for schedule news in the coming months.

It was nice meeting and talking to you after the banquet. If anyone should get a special thank you it is you. You do a great job writing for a lot of drivers and I hope you continue helping them. I know how much time it take to write, edit, post, update websites, etc., and it is hard to find someone like you to do it all. You deserve a BIG TIP from all of them! Maybe one day you will be taking care of our website (just kidding I know you have enough to do.)
THANK YOU AGAIN FOR ALL YOU DO FOR SPRINT CAR RACING!!!

What would we do without Gary (GT Promotions)? I only did one write-up about a race and I thought it was much more thought provoking than I expected. Gary has become the "man" as far as California winged sprint car races goes He is the much younger Marcel with his backpack and all, he he!
Looking forward to the new Golden State King of the
West series schedule!
Winged sprintcars = the fastest and most exciting
racecars on dirt!
