Anyone know how fast the midgets are going at the Chili Bowl. I read the track size is anywhere from 1/5 to 1/4. Can someone clear that up

It is not 1/4 mile. The track around a high school football field is 1/4 mile. So it is not close. Depends where you measure. My guess is 1/6 to 1/5 mile, my guess is top speed of 60 mph. If you run the bottom it would be less.

The forum doesn't go back far enough, but I figured this out last year and posted some stats based on the track. I can't find the link anymore, but there was an article that told the track size and width. From that information I drew the track in AutoCad and measured the distance a car would follow at three different lines - inside, middle, and outside. I still have the spreadsheet I used to calculate the speeds, but without the other information I can't tell what I came up with.
Best I can tell, the track, as stated above is not 1/4 mile. It is smaller than that. I see a number I used to calculate the speeds as 1032 ft, which is a little less than 1/5 mile. 1/5 would be 1056 so this distance would be giving a car a little room off the wall on the high side (cushion). At that distance, and using 11 seconds as a lap time, this would equal a touch under 64 mph.
The forum only goes back 1000 posts and stops in March of 2020. I think this was posted around January 18, 2021 if anyone can go back and get it. That would show the math and an outline of the track.

Short answer seemed to be:
If it's 1/5 mile on the outside= 65 mph
If it's 1/6 mile on the inside= 55 mph

Yep, that works, and here is what I found from last year;

I found a little more. From this link; John Klein: 'The Dirt Guy' talks about Chili Bowl's track
From the article:
The track is about 38 feet wide going into corners and about 40 feet wide coming out of corners. The rest of the track is about 45 feet wide.
The track is so short it’s almost a circle: 1,285-feet long at the top, with straightaways that are just 129 feet long.

Based on that data, I created the oval with 129 foot straights and tangent corners that when added together equal 1285. Then offset the 1285 oval 40 ft (close enough) to find the inside distance.
Given those numbers the outside is 1285 and the inside would be 1032.
1285 = 79.6 mph
1032 = 63.9 mph
That would be the extreme speeds but doesn't count the width of the car so the top speed would be less and the slowest would be slightly more. 1158 would be the distance at the center which equates to a speed of 71.7
