If you visit Huset's Speedway or Knoxville Raceway and do not appreciate Robert Bell, then you are not a TRUE SPRINT CAR FAN. This driver may not finish well on paper, but his contributions to the sport from a fans point of view, have been immeasurable!! I finally convinced more than a few fans of this last year at Huset's, when after a VIOLENT FLIP down the back stretch and landing on the inside fence facing nose-first in the air, we went down to view the canarge of his sprinter. It is no secret that Robert does not have the funds to finance to bring his car alll the way up from Knoxville, MUCH LESS FIX HIS BROKEN CAR FROM A CRASH AT HUSET'S, but there he was........flap-jawing, and screamin' at the top of his lungs to us Huset's faithfull at 4 am in the infield as he was pullin' away with his broken up race car that he'd be back the next week......and you know what?????? He was back EVERY SINGLE WEEK UNTIL THE END OF THE SEASON......which is more than I can say for some of those BIG NAME drivers that quickly disappeared along with their chance of winning a championship at the track. ROBERT BELL IS NOT ONLY A FAN FAVORITE BUT A FAN'S CHAMPION IN MY BOOK!!!!! If you go to a race that Robert Bell is in attendance and don't go down in the pits to visit with him.......you're truely missing out on a full old school racing experience!!!!!!!

I agree with Jules. I could do without ever seeing that 71 again.

apparently your not a race fan so why are you on hoseheads? Robert has done nothing to harm the sport of sprint car racing so why bash him?

I can't say I have ever seen Robert beg anyone for anything. Got to like a guy who still makes home made Bird Cages and Torsion arms at home from what could be a 1965 John Deer tractor part.

oh, and a guy who straps himself in by having the belts already tight...then sucking in his fat gut, hurry and lock the belts then let it all out. Then turns and rolls his car out with his left hand.
Plus His old driving suit I think was more like a shop rag. That old thing would have burst into flames if a cigarette landed on it.

Don't get me wrong. I like Robert Bell. He is a very nice guy. He always shoots the shit with you. It is nice to see a driver that is still "one of the good ol guys." However, I don't like how he gets so much press on the microphone at Knoxville where it's always the same thing, asking people to donate. You won't hear from the other guys out there busting their butt to race asking for parts/money. For example, I was there when everyone was lending him parts. Why not other racers that need stuff too? If he gets the chance to publicly speak out, then so should the rest of the guys. I am a true fan to the core and I just think that there are many other racers out there that don't have a lot, but you don't hear the free press for them at the races. That's all I'm saying.

I don't think Robert is asking to be interviewed, Mike and the other reporters go to him because he is a fan favorite and funnier than crap when being interviewed.
Half the time this guy is the only in the pits for his crew and he is doing it all himself..
That old farm boy is having more fun than any of the other racers at Knoxville.
