Has anybody else been following the USAC East Coast Series?  They're having about as good a points battle as I've seen between Alex Bright and Briggs Danner.  Bright leads Danner by about 30 points.  It would be even closer if Danner hadn't flipped in turn 3 of the last lap at Selinsgrove after he passed Bright in turn 1 for the lead.

It's really a dream scenario for the series having 2 guys duke it out while also winning the races.  People who like consistency which is ignored these days are just as happy as people who only appreciate winning.  I feel like track championships don't mean much since guys aren't showing up at the same place week by week.  These two don't miss races and are always battling at the front of the field.  Both of them were competitive against the USAC National Sprint Car Series.  Danner's name came up last week from David Gravel when he was asked who he would hire as a driver if he owned a team.

They run into November so check them out if you haven't already.  If I wasn't hooked on non-wing in addition to wing sprint cars...I am now.  Briggs needs some bad luck from Bright to get back into it or to just keep winning which he's capable of.  Should be fun and I'm excited to see what the future holds for Briggs...a fellow Lehigh Valley native.

That's all fine and good but those two drivers have won 15 of the 17 races that have been run to date. That's great for them but doesn't make for eventful main events and for the series in general IMO.

That's a great and growing division that has outstanding racing. I think this division will replace the struggling URC winged 360's in the PA/NJ/DE/MD area. I agree though that it's been pretty much a 2 man show up front. Drevicki was also competetive but I noticed he is now MIA.

i agree it would be nice to have a few other guys mix it up.  i left that out though because everybody's always finding something to complain about.  the features have been very exciting even if it's just those 2 racing each other.  can't beat the drama at selinsgrove a couple weeks ago.  glad briggs was ok and bright thought he either ran out of gas or lost a motor coming to the checkered flag.

As an aside, I thought I saw on Twitter that Bright and Drevicki are making the tow west to run the Kokomo Smackdown this Thurs - Sat. Suprised Danner doesn't come out. Those guys are very competitive with the Indiana USAC drivers,

I'm glad the series continues to grow

An Indiana buddy of mine thinks they're gonna supplant the wingers, based on weekly car counts

I don't think he should hold his breath, Pa. has such a tradition of winged cars

I think he's correct that they will supplant the winged 360's - which in this area is the URC. They already are if you look at all the former URC teams and drivers who have ditched the wing and now running with the USAC-East Coast. URC is struggling for cars and dates, while the East Coast wingless are growing in both. This series won't supplant the winged 410's. They still reign king in central PA by a wide margin. I wouldn't be surprised if a track or sanction tried starting a 410 wingless division in PA though, due to the success of the USAC East Coast 360's. Maybe the East Coast series eventually goes 410. It would make sense and would make the locals even more competitive during the USAC Eastern storm.
