Not that it matters at all, but who does everyone guess will be in the seat for Knoxville?
I'm picking Ian Madsen

USAC Midget drivers is where you get a driver. Kofoid, Bayston, Seavey. These owners need to stop getting these has been drivers that are washed up. PPM, really. Look what Kofoid did with a wing In Arizona this year. Look what Bayston has done in the 11. Kofoid at the wheel and Rizzy with the wrenches.

I don't disagree with you but Knoxville is a different animal, if I owned the car I would definitely want someone who has laps and has proven he can get around Knoxville.

Bingo! No way I would put someone in that car and use the Nationals as a tune up.

Kofoid has plenty of laps in a Sprint car. Him and Rizzy probably had zero tune up laps on that car in AZ and beat the best in the business. The best raw driving talent today is coming out of USAC.

That makes total sense he's got laps at Knoxville and has been on fire all year.

I'm not arguing with you on this, but the best raw talent today is coming out of USAC----------and going where? If I'm reading what you're saying, the drivers making the biggest impact on the next, big stage are coming from USAC, and not winged 410's, and succeeding where? I have no problem with your statement at all, but give us some examples.
If you're saying it's the best talent because they look more talented wheeling a car in USAC vs. a locked-down winged sprint car, then you are comparing apples to oranges. Of course a driver looks more talented when he's putting a wingless car sideways around a corner. But cars that drive different do not necessarily mean the drivers have more talent. Tony Stewart once said a winged 410 is not terribly difficult to drive---------it's difficult to be fast, and the talented drivers find a way to be fast. Being talented at driving a race car is not always directly related to how out of control the car and driver look during a race. I'm far more impressed with Donnie Schatz than I am with Sheldon Haudenschild. But to the casual onlooker, Sheldon may look to be more talented because of how he hangs the car up on the wall. To me, the talent is Schatz getting all of that speed out of that car, for decades, all while hardly ever looking out of control.
Larson on the other hand? On the verge of out of control and still fast. There are so many different ways to evaluate talent. Making a blanket statement about USAC driver is fine, but give me some examples of where they have flourished when put in the same arena as the winged 410 drivers. (and please don't say the Chili Bowl-------USAC races midgets so of course they should dominate as the winged drivers dominate the Knoxville Nationals over the non-wing guys)
Looking for a spirited debate, not mud slinging. I don't follow USAC all that close, so maybe you can give me an education.

Tyler Courtney, Spencer Bayston, Buddy Kofoid, Zeb Wise, and Christopher Bell just to name a Few. All ex USAC drivers, and All of them have big wins this year with the all stars and world of outlaws. You tell me who has lit the Sprint car world up in the last few years that has come out of ASCS. May Sam Hafertepe. These are the next generation WOO drivers.

I see what you're saying now. I agree with you-------if you are saying the top talent going into the WoO is coming from USAC vs. other winged-sprint series like the ASCS. I thought you were trying to say the USAC talent was trumping the WoO talent when moving to different levels of racing.
So you're saying put a USAC driver in the seat of these Outlaw teams vs. someone from lower classes of winged cars. Gotcha.

Buddy ran 200 sprint car races before he stepped in a USAC midget, hardly coming out of USAC.

You ask this question & then mention Larson? You just answered your own question. He has lots of USAC experience & wins
3 USAC sprint car wins & 18 with the Midgets
& you have to admit he's "succeeding somewhere" since....

Bell had tons of laps in winged cars way before his USAC time. Ferkel put him in the seat of his car at the age of 14, I beleive. Before anyone tosses out Larson, lets make sure everyone knows where he started. Larson was a NorCal legend(driving for BK and a team prior to that before coming to Indiana) before he hit the seen and everyone in NorCal knew of Kofoid before anyone in USAC could pronounce his name.
If you have enough money you can buy a ride at KKM and then launch that into a winged car such as Wise and Bayston. The young talent is coming out of USAC because you can buy a ride these days. There aren't enough winged cars to buy rides because most are family owned.
I"m sure you'll say Corey Day is a USAC guy too, right? He's NorCal and running the Tarlton family car and was racing in NorCal before he had a spot in CMR midget for midget week.
Just because families write checks doesn't mean they are talented and can drive. There are a few in that are buying midget rides that are down right wreckless.
As for the Nationals, the last I knew Kofoid was driving the second CJB car unless that has changed, which is possible.

I'm pretty sure it won't be Kofoid since he has a broken arm and an injured leg. Yes he has been running midgets with his injuries but this is Knoxville. Scelzi makes a lot of sense. Another guy that has a ton of laps at Knoxville is Dusty Zomer, if the ride is just for Nationals.

Why are people naming off drivers that already have committed to other rides that they won't spurn for the Nationals. If there's going to be an 83, it's going to be Dom Scelzi.

Harvard & MIT are expensive too, but you learn a lot. Same with Kunz University
If you're reckless, you probably won't be "wreckless"
If you ARE "wreckless", you're probably not reckless
