Another Fred Ercse Classic Slick Kart Race for Charity is in the books and although controversial, the top three finishers were Garrett Hansen, Bryan Clauson, and Brady Bacon. 52 people entered the event and raced for the 12 spots available in the 9th annual 50 lap Fred Ercse Classic main event . Thanks to all who came out and supported the event. It was nice to see some familiar faces and a host of new ones. A generous donation will be made to the American Heart Association, in memory of Fred Ercse.

Many thanks,

JJ and Lisa Ercse

It definitely was not controversial. That guy had no reason to gripe. 14 definitely gor by 5 when 5 was having trouble getting through traffic. I think that guy said that 14 had got lapped. I guess he must have went to the restroom during the first part of the race.

Good job J. J.  AND Lisa

Not controversial? I think the guy jumping up and down in the middle of the racetrack when they declared Clausen the winner over Hansen would disagree with you. It looked to me like Clausen lapped the field early on when everyone was bunched up and Hansen was unlapping himself late in the race, not passing for the lead. I wasn't paying close enough attention to it because it's a FREAKING CHARITY GO-CART RACE. Who cares who won it. It was a lot of fun and thanks to JJ and Lisa for hosting it.

Wow.... looks like USAC must have been doing the officiating.... they can even screw up a charity race in Carson @ Go Kart Worldwink

Glad you guys had a good turn out & next year for sure I'll be there with the family.

Hi JJ and Lisa,

last night was my first night at the event, I've never been able to participate before because of work as a musician, either on cruise ships from 98-2001 when the event started, or 2002-2006 when I had an every Wed night gig and no day job and I lost interest in racing karts. I just started back on the slick track again after a five year absence in Sept and have been really enjoying it, especially seeing all my old friends, who haven't changed a bit. It's like I never left! I've also never won on the slick track, since starting in 94, despite tons of races led and top five finishes, so to win a heat in group five and be the only Wed regular in the main was the thrill of a lifetime and extremely emotional for me. Thanks for everything. I wish I finished higher than 9th and definitely had a top five car but that's racing and I had a blast. I loved seeing the pictures of Fred and sharing memories with you guys.
