Gonna be epic. Pissed I can't make it and also a little sad. (Cue the violin music.) Obviously having the make-up and the huge payout helps the stoke, but I can't remember a more anticipated Kings Royal week. I think there's legitimately 10 or 12 guys who can win one of these things. And three guys who can win em both (Sweet, Larson, Danny Dietrich). And then after that you have to look at Marks (fastest car in the country imo), Schuchart, Gravel, Madsen, S. Haudenshchild and I'll throw Macedo in there too. Then....you got guys like Schatz and Rico and the rest. Yes anybody can win on any given night but I can't remember all these top tier guys being so close to each other in performance. Gonna be cool to see how Dietrich and Macri perform also. Tyler Courtney, Jac in the 22. Just so much going on this week. To any of you guys who are going , I hate you and want to fight you. But have fun and drink one for the guy rambling on Hoseheads who you don't know.  And did I mention the perfect 82 degree weather?

Remember we have King Donald the third.  Not saying he can win but anything can happen.  Good luck to the posse this week!!

Let's go Sprint Car Racing!

Knoxville - Best Track In the USA!
Eldora - 2nd Best Track in the USA!

Also, King Sides the whatever. Track prep won't allow a fluke tire deal and maintenance is a lot better nowadays so no one will win based on several guys dropping out in front.

Pretty sure nobody predicted Tyler Walker winning the Kings Royal, but there he was, wearing the crown in 2011 after Sammy's right rear let go in turn 4 on the last lap. The fickle finger of fate has determined a lot of races through the years, & the Royal is no exception. Here's to a great (& safe) week at the Big E! wink

When in doubt, gas it!!

I can't go either and I too am bitter. You're right though, you got several who can win. I think Shark racing is a huge threat. They remind me of Schatz before he started winning everything. If you look at his record, he would be out to lunch alot of the time, but when big money came around, he would be one of the biggest threats, nearly winning Knoxville almost every year, winning HBO and several National Opens. Schuchart seems to be like that, maintanence issues etc.. keep him from winning consistently and contending for points, but when the big money is on the line, he's as fast as anyone.

Marks is not the fastest car in the country, but he could be at Eldora. Dietrich's record speaks for itself really. lol

Nah, he just looks for a reason to jump on people and insult them.

As long as it's a safe race I'm not partial to any particular driver.  In 1988 I was walking the pits at Cedar Lake and decided to grab something to eat.  I ended up waiting in line behind Brad Doty making small talk until we could get served.  A few weeks later he got hurt at Eldora.  My only trip there was for the Milliion and the place got my attention.  When they crash there the cars and parts roll down the banking.  I jumped off the ladder I was standing on and got that "so, you're not from around here" look.  wink

The next time I talked to Brad was the time he pulled into the Infield at Princeton, Minnesota, with his rental car.  Nice guy and interesting conversation.  I will be watching his race and as much of the KR as my monthly fast pass will allow.

I pretty much just threw his name in there because I was happy he was going. And good on Macri too for getting to drive the 71. It's gonna be cool to see those guys at Eldora.  I wish our sport treated Knoxville, Eldora and WG like a triple crown type deal and everybody went to these races. All the top Cali guys, Midwest, PA, everything.  But unfortunately sprint car racing doesn't really work like that.

Bobby Allen would never stand a chance and win The Knoxville Nationals either.

OK the winner of the two Kings Royal races each get $175,000. Can’t find anywhere what the 2nd and 3rd place winners get paid.

I like the idea of 2 or 3 thousand dollars for each lap led. It could make for a pretty good fight for the lead every corner.

Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

Yeah definitely. I was more leaning towards he won't win one this week, and.... just to get something to click with the guy who didn't understand my sarcasm. Danny just doesn't go enough.  It would take a wild wild night for him or anybody else from pa to get crowned. But as I stated in a previous post,  I wish all of our top guys went to these crown jewel races every year. Lance, Lucas, Freddie, Stevie B, Wagner etc. Same with Ohio, Cali or wherever else. 100 cars at Nationals, KR, Natty Open would be sweet.  I know if I owned a top car I'd be at all these events. I don't how these guys stay around home while these races are going on. I'd want to be there and be apart of it.

No doubt. $175k to win is just ridiculou and yes I know it's a huge drop for 2nd on back but based on the great Bill V's stats,  only Sweet, Gravel, Schuchart and Macedo have earned that much all season. And all of them have raced over 40 times by now and are having good to great seasons. And there's going to be 2 shows paying that this week!

Just crazy money for sprint cars.

Yep, he was right there just behind Courtney and Gravel.   I know at least a couple of guys here are probably looking for some steak sauce or something else to go with the crow...  ;-)
