Jackson topped out at 36 for a much better paying show. I'd hope for 27 and expect 23. Hope my estimates are off.

That's good news, Ira could bring a few cars.

They generally are in the 25-30 range.  If anyone running for Knoxville points shows up on Friday they usually bail out on day two.  I plan on going there Friday night and watching from home on Saturday night.  It's only about a 35 minute drive.

I sure hope that they have a good car count. I'm traveling there from Oregon and am hoping for a healthy field. When the Outlaws race here in the Pacific Northwest their car counts are pretty poor. Last time they raced here at Grays Harbor and Willamette Speedway they had 17 and 14 cars respectively if I recall correctly.

I am sticking with my 25-30 estimate.  That's my hunch based on seeing almost every WoO show out there since they started and seventeen years of photography and writing for a paper that is still distributed in the concession stands.  I haven't been out there since 2019 when I photographed night one.  I'm sure if I go through those 2019 pics I'll count between 25-30.  If it's more than that I will be pleasantly surprised.  As long as we see three Heats, dashes and a Feature it will be fine.  I don't entertain fantasies of 50 car fields up here.  If I want to see a ton of cars I will stay home and find a tv race.

PS, I'm not wishing doom and gloom on this weekends race.  We had years where it was in the 40's and we've had some thinner years. There aren't a helluva lot of 410's in Minnesota and some only run one weekly track.  Davey Heskin for example didn't show at Jackson, Husets or Granite City which is pretty close to where he lives as he was in Knoxville where he's in the points race.

Depending on how many IRA and NOSA cars make the trip we could have a better than average turnout.  Brooke Tatnell lives in the same town as me but I have I haven't heard if he will race.  Sounds like Ian had motor problems and they are dealing with Amy's health issues.  I am going on Friday to hang around with the local Sprint Car crowd and take a few pictures regardless of who does or doesn't show up,  They get those huge 50 car shows back east but we never see anything like that with the exception of the Nationals 300 miles down the road.  We're used to seeing 25 or 30 a lot of times so that is the default assumed car count based on previous years until proven wrong.  I think our highest was in the 40's a couple times and lowest was at or slightly under 24.

25-30 cars is a good number as far as I'm concerned. Looks like the weather should cooperate as well. I'm looking forward to the weekend.

I am looking forward to Friday as well.  I haven't bden out there since the first night of the Outlaws in 2019.  My flight home from a Norway vacation didn't arrive in MSP until 9pm for the Jerry Richert Memorial 2019 and I sat out last year and watched everything on TV.  Two nights of pit passes would be a bit too much so Friday only and I will watch day two from home.  After seventeen years of making the majority of their races I know quite a few people on the pit side of the fence.  I've got a neighbor who's son is driving the non-wing cars that are Fridays support class so I need to get a few pics of him.

It has been hotter than usual up here this summer.  If the humidity kicks up a notch it could get kind is sticky before the sun goes down but no chance of rain either day.  Cedar Lake stands out for its camping experience.  There are things to do during the day and they usually have a band after the races at least one night.  I used to like to stay at the track when I was younger but my style of camping used to revolve around what was in the cooler.  Not partying anymore and the central air calls me home after the races these days.

Looking forward to this weekend's show.  Bringing my dad over from the UP.  He's never seen CLS before.  As for car counts, I seem to remember the best 410 count seemed to be at the Jerry Richert Memorial in September.  Seemed like between the IRA, and all the weekly shows done for the year, that was always a pretty big one.  As for the WoO I would tend to agree with the 26 to 28 range.  Always great to be surprised by more cars on raceday though.  Safe travels to and from the tracks this weekend folks!

I remember years ago the Outlaws racing at Cottage Grove and they would draw cars from WA, OR and Ca.  Even some guy would come from Alaska and do the PNW swing.  Too bad the Outlaws dont run Cottage Grove anymore.

I see that they got some participation from the IRA and a couple local cars so they darned near made it to 30.  My neighbors son drives the black and red #65 non-wing UMSS Sprint so there is one to cheer for in tonights support class.  I am pretty sure that a couple of the local cars are 360's so I'm not expecting any upsets.  It's pretty hot out there so I decided to stay home and sit in the central air.

The racing is always good and we generally draw between 25-30 which was my guess earlier in this thread.  What happens during these two day shows is that teams running for Knoxville points bail out on day two.  The ones that I suspect may do that this year are the 49j and 22 as both have been running Knoxville.  There were a couple of local 360's out there last night as well.  I counted a handful from the IRA but Balog must have taken the rest of the weekend off to regroup for the All Stars.  We haven't seen Davey Heskin run outside of Knoxville this year and he used to show up at least for day one.  Brooke Tatnell went to Knoxville with the 360 because the motor on the 16 was hurt last week when Ian stood in at Jackson.  His brother-in-law is being inducted in the Knoxville HOF this weekend so a lot of their family and friends headed down there this weekend.

I'm about 35 minutes from CLS but decided to forego hanging with my old photographer cohorts and watch on Dirtvision.  Too damn hot to run around the infield at my age.  It was my wife's birthday and we had a couple grandkids overnight.  Cedar Lake almost always has good racing and the camping experience is a lot of fun out there.  They usually have a band after the races and serve breakfast in the morning.  Some years they'll have a bus shuttling people back and forth to the Apple River for the tubing experience.  This isn't like Ohio or PA with 50 cars up here but it's still a great place to attend races.  That's part of my deal was the good times after the races.  I used to have a popup camper I'd pull out there and make a weekend out of it.  A few years ago I backed off on the partying and my son has been watching from home or on his phone so our CLS weekends kind of aged out but not due to a lack of fun.

Those were some great races. I was really impressed with the track. It's definitely one of the best I've been to. I'll go back someday for sure.
