Husets Speedway Thumbs Up / Thumbs Down June 13th, 2021
I didn’t take notes, so this is the lazy man’s / poor memory version again.
Thumbs Up:
*Great track. I knew they’d get it figured out. The track crew did some serious farming during the intermission. The result was a cars racing hard all over the track.
*No cars upside down and no cars into the wall that I can recall.
*Even the yellow and the red lights got an easy night.
*NOSA points race brought down a half dozen 410’s from up north
*Rookie 1X Aaron Foote winning his LMSS heat
*Lots of passing through 3&4 using the inside berm as a guide and 3-wheeling it ‘round the bend.
*Temps were sub-Sahara on Sunday for a welcome change. I think everyone was expecting a hot dustbowl so it was a pleasant surprise not to have to dig out the goggles and mask
*71 Shaun Taylor leading most of the LMSS feature before Cory Yeigh worked his way past for the win.
*Interview with Lynton Jeffrey, who set fast time. Fun to here him refer to the “the kids” in his Aussie accent.
*Brandon Bosma #23 in the IMCA sprints looking better and better. It was announced that he had won Saturday night at Jackson. Way to go Brandon.
*Austin McCarl 19A saying it’s his wife’s birthday and he needed to bring home a trophy
*Javen Osterman won his first IMCA sprint feature @ Husets
*If you’re going to have a medical emergency at an event, Husets would be a good place to pick. Someone in the pits had a problem. Jay Masur’s crew was right there.
*We tend to forget the little things. Husets new restrooms are about 358 times better than the old ones.
*Lots of close racing, due to the good track prep.
*The new campground looks like it might be about finished?
*The T-shirt cannon is in use and boy, does that thing have some range!
They opened all three gates to go down into the pits. Thank you
Thumbs Down:
*Car counts are slipping a bit. I counted about 20-21 of each of the sprint classes and a dozen Late Model Street Stocks
*The fence posts and yellow twine marking the parking lot. I had the misfortune of going down one of those dead-ends again. I also had a hard time getting out of there, as I parked on the north end and went out the south end. Part of that issue may have been self-inflicted, as I was the only one left in my area by the time I got to my vehicle.
*Restarts. The guy who crashed in the LMSS feature restarts ahead of about 4 other cars that weren’t involved? One of the LMSS took off from the back and passed about 3-4 cars in the #3 turn coming to the green.
This N That:
*If you live in Iowa or Minnesota now, why is it announced that you are from Australia still?
*Aaron Foote isn’t from Australia. He’s not from Luverne either.
*There was an IMCA sprinter there from Arizona? Or did I hear that wrong?
*I was following a gentleman on the north end of the concourse. He was so intently surveying the geography of the gal selling programs that he walked into his small son who had stopped in front of him.
*They started working the track right after the races ended.
I thought the races were very good. What did you think?

That's pretty cool. That's a good example of how we can regrow the sport! We'll need to remember that when he becomes the next Donny Schatz. Speaking of cool, if he's from Arizona, he probably enjoyed the cool 90 degree+ temps recently.

I tried to stop by your trailer afterwards but it was buttoned up. Do you have T-shirts?
