I see the Nascar race that weekend is in Indy.  However, it is one of the 8 races of the season that will also hold qualifying and practice.  I know Larson has made it in the past from Watkins Glen, Michigan, and Kansas.  I wonder what the odds are Mr. Rick lets him travel to Iowa on Saturday night.  Fingers crossed.

Assuming he makes it thru on his prelim night he wouldn't need to be in town til 8:00 or later at night so should be enough time.  If he gets buried on prelim night makes that window a lot tighter potentially

It might depend on how well he is running at that point. If he is running this well then most likely no problem. I'm of the mind and there seems to be statistical proof to back this up but it seems the more he races on dirt, the better he races on Sunday. When he is out of the sprint car for a certain period of time, his performace on Sunday tends to go down.

i haven't looked at the standings lately but he has to have a ton of stage points piled up already.  he'll breeze through at least the first 2 rounds of the playoffs.  that should give him more freedom to do other things this summer.  there's always risk of something bad happening in a sprint car.  he has different goals and winning knoxville may mean more to him than a cup championship...so it's probably a risk worth taking for him.

Good point.  I don't anticipate him coming back to run if he is not locked into the top-10 of the B or higher.  So, 8:00 should be perfect.

I agree with this.  It would make sense that his car control is superior to everyone else when he feels mutliple types of cars in multiple situations.  That car may have been hooked up on Sunday, but I believe it's almost all the driver when you get on the road coarse.  And who can feel the car better than someone who is constantly behind the wheel of a car sliding through corners?  Great points

Agree, agree, and agree.  It just depends on how much Mr. Rick also loves the Knoxville idea.  wink

I'll be there no matter what and will enjoy the show either way.  That said, you have to admit there would be a different feeling in the air on Saturday afternoon leading up to Championship night depending on whether or not he's in the show.  True or false?
