Third place in a dirt late model race that didn't have a caution  or he'd have had a good shot at that too.

He? You mean the guy that starts a thread with an elipsis? Not a fan of doing that so someone has to click on your thread to see your hidden message. Sort of a dick move in my opinion.

Not even slightly interested in anything Larson does unless it's in a sprint car.

I'd say Larson is one of the greatest, Tony Stewarts racing resume is a little more lenthy and impressive than Larsons to me, notice I said "to me", what one person finds stunning and amazing might not impress me in the slightest, thats just how it is with me, Stewart has won his share in multiple classes of motorsports, and he could have won alot more dirt track races had Joe Gibbs not restricted him from racing on dirt back when he was Larsons current age, Christopher Bell who currently drives for Gibbs is experiencing that same scenario himself, having recently shut down his Bell/Boat sprint team. frown

Yeah but with McLain's reputation of posting good stuff with no dumb bullshit, I think starting a thread with an ellipsis can be forgiven.

By the way, Larson is very, very talented. The best of this generation. It was great to see him get rewarded with another win after basically dominating the first part of the NASCAR season with only one victory to show for it.

I want to see the Indy double next...

I know many on here are getting sick of reading about him but what he's doing is incredible. I don't watch nascar but it's great to see someone from the sprint car ranks having success on the biggest stage. It's not easy to win in any of these cars to say the least. To be able to jump in darn near anything in any given week and run up front is impressive. Anyone who can't acknowledge that has never been involved in racing at any level.

Too hard to compare with drivers of another era

But " The best of this generation" makes perfect sense...

He's certainly the greatest dirt track driver of his era but he hasn't accomplished enough to be called the greatest ever. I mean Mario Andretti won Indy, Daytona and the F1 world championship so perhaps we should start with him. But then again, some folks on this board don't even know the difference between Dave and Dale Blaney, so perhaps we shouldn't get ahead of ourselves.

Well... it's still better than (insert driver name here), Wassup?

For what it's worth, I didn't know who he was talking about. I had to figure it out from the following posts. Maybe the OP didn't know either? Smile

Yeah, but he's over 2800 km away, there's no way he could know the difference. Its just like I couldn't figure out for all those years why people talked about how Mario Lemieux was such a great and skilled hockey player, but all I remembered him for was knocking Kris Draper into the board post during the '96 Western Conference Finals.... alas (Just busting balls, Rod and while I'm typing this, sorry for the ellipsis, Hoop).

Fair enough. My response was harsh looking back at it. Apologies. I will try to do better in the future.

Curious if anyone Knows Why Larson would not have raced with the All Stars tonight for much more money and a slightly less competitive field? Not that he needs to count his pennies after yesterday but.....

Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

Enjoy it while it lasts.  We just watched Kyle sandwich a Charlotte NASCAR dominating win between two Sprint Car wins, one with the Outlaws, and a 3rd place finish in a dirt Late Model for good measure.  We will likely never see anything like this again.  The only thing that even comes close was when I was a kid and drivers like Foyt would run dirt and pavement and win on both.

At first I thought the exact same thing, but we have to remember the logistics. Port Royal was orginally scheduled for Sunday while Kyle was racing at Charlotte. Lawrenceburg fit perfectfully into his schedule and like others have said, he does not have to race sprint cars for the money this season. Probably given a choice, he would race exclusively with the WoO idf his busy schedule permitted.

Kody Swanson had a pretty good Saturday:

ORP USAC Silver Crown - 1st

ORP Midget - 1st

Anderson Little 500 Sprint Car - 2nd

Also won a Late Model race on Tuesday at Berlin Raceway.
