Madsen running a full season in Central PA in a good Central PA car would have been interesting.
So, who's your pick for the Barshinger 24?
Good stuff, been around a long time - often lost in the long-time car owner discussion.

Mike is a first class owner who is very loyal to his drivers...when the news broke, I was kind of surprised since Madsen appeared to be doing fairly well. When I heard he missed home, it made sense. I honestly have no idea who will be the next driver of the #24. It sounded like Barshinger wants a local driver. Unless there is a sudden "musical chairs" with ride switching locally, it will be very interesting to see who winds up in the seat.

Jeff Halligan is who I'd call. If he doesn't want it, hire someone from out of the area. The talent pool in PA isn't too thick if you want a driver who is a contender at all the local tracks. Halligan has a lot of potential and has shown he's good everywhere, not just one track. It really sucks that things didn't work out with Kerry and finding another driver of his caliber at this juncture probably won't happen but hopefully they get a deal worked out with someone. Always been a solid car.

Not a bad idea but he's hit the ground running since getting out of CJB and getting the family team going again. It's always nice to have someone else pay the bills but with the way they're going, I gotta think he'd have a tough time shelving the family ride again. Obviously that's just my opinion.

Now this I could get behind. No doubt in my mind that The Edge can still wheel it. Admittedly, I never gave him a thought but that'd be bad ass to have him back. It's definitely not the same without him.

I agee, never gave Monteith a thought. Not sure he wants to race as much as the Barshinger team usually runs, but he would be the perfict fit....I too miss seeing him race this year.

I'd like to see Pitman get that seat. Always on top of the wheel and the guy understands what it takes to move to the front.

I keep seeing people suggesting this. Did he not just leave the 21 because he wanted to race less? Barshinger seems to like to race a lot. Doesn't make much sense to me.

If it's good equipment with a chev valve cover maybe Donny should send his resume.
Let the fun begin....

If you're smart, you'll delete this post. Kerry leaving had absolutely nothing to do with racing. Some things in life are more important than racing and he had to make a difficult but necessary decision. This is a great case study in a dumbass who has no clue what they're talking about assuming things and running their mouth.

Sometimes in life you get a bad hand. I thought Madsen was a good choice to take that seat. For whatever the reason may be I'm sure the 24 seat will be sought after by quite a few drivers.

I am somewhat surprised by Mike's pick, but that being said, Jeff Halligan is a homegrown talent who came up through the 358 ranks before moving up to the 410's. He has shown some speed picking up a few wins in his own equipment. There are some who say Barshinger should have looked for another driver from outside of Central Pa with talent on par with Madsen, but I think Mike did not want to go through with what just happened again. This is not an owner who does not go through a lot of drivers. He picks his guy and pretty much sticks with him through the ups and downs. Let's see how the team fares for the rest of the year.
