What is the background with Courtney acquiring the nickname Sunshine?

Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

I actually googled it and Tyler worked for Clausen racing and was the tire specialist.Google says that Brian Clausen gave him the nickname when he did tires..Didn't say what it meant or how it was related.

When he was working for Clausons, Bryan said he would come into the shop every morning with that big golden mop of hair, always smiling and in a good mood and Bryan said something to the effect of "Tyler, you are like a big ray of sunshine".  Thus the nickname 'Sunshine' was born.

It had to do with a reference from the movie, "Remember The Titans." I remember when he was racing here in Ohio a long time ago prior to the non wing stuff, he had long curly golden blonde hair, somewhat like the QB in the movie who was nicknamed had although curlier. Hints the name, sunshine

I'm not sure of where his nickname came from but I think its because of the way he used top wear his hair and his cheery disposition.Tyler is a really decent person and a damn good racer.

He reminded Bryan Claussen of "Sunshine" from Remember the Titans. He called him that and the name stuck.

I might be thinking of a different person, but didnt he work for Danny Smith?  I think I remember Smith saying he wore the brightest whitest clothes on race day and always ended up the dirtiest person in the pits from working hard on everyones car.

I think he did.  Danny let him drive his back-up car at the Nationals one year.  Something broke in hot laps going into turn 1... nasty crash that he luckily walked away from.

Can confirm. Remember watching him run a second Danny Smith car at Atomic. Clothes thing is true as well, between the hair, stubble, and dirty clothes you would have thought some homeless person had wondered into the pits and Danny hired him to pay him in track food. Always a nice kid though, very polite, hard working, and down to earth. Certainly teaches you to never judge a book by its cover

When speaking with Tyler he was pretty nice and cordial. At least I thought it was Tyler. Could of been his brother ....

I'm hoping he gets as good in wing cars as he was in wingless.... he was one of the elite

Or else go back to USAC?
