Soon after he retired, a story came out that his retirement job had fallen through and that he was looking at all possiblities.

Well from what I understand he could have had the 27 ride going into 2021. He choose to decline it at a time when most good rides had offers out to drivers. His plans were to spend more time with family, with a secure job. From this point on its mostly a he said story line. Pitman is a class act because he never mentioned what or who it was with. I look at it as whomever, whatever it was, it was known any decent rides where already spoken for and I feel the people or person that pulled the plug knew it.

Daryn had an offer to run the 72 on a part time basis with mostly bigger shows. Daryn had a job lined up with a successful wheel company in the racing business. Daryn always had a plan to run a handful of shows for Jason Meyers in his car in California. The wheel businmess deal fell through and by then, Daryn had not committed to running the 72 as plans had him committed to work and family. When he found out the 72 team had already hired Tim Shafer as they couldn't sit around. Daryn in Californai was always a plan...the question is now...how much else will he be racing and for who. Nobody knows but Daryn

If he wants to run a part time 410 schedule, I'm sure he will be able to find something. Still a big name and still capable.

There is aways the option to take some of the money earned over past 20 years and start your own team. We all know that doesnt happen often but look what Brian Brown has done or there are a few others but some have done it.

I'm thinking you may see him in Bernie's indy race parts ride. Yes I know he is crew chief for Macedo I believe. That can't happen much longer. Tracks in Indiana will be opening up, and he does have a business to run.

Macedo's crew chief is co owner Phillip Dietz. Bernie is filling in as crew chief for the KCP 18 with Gio Scelzi.

JJR, thanks for the correction. Will see what happens when Bernie decides to take his indy race parts team out to select races. Pitman you would think has to be on top of Bernie's choices for a driver.

Yep, it was Jason's car that Daryn was in for 2 nights last weekend. Good guy promoter Peter Murphy may have helped put that together.
