I can’t remember what he said…

The first time I ever met Mike Jackson was at Harris Speedway in Harris, North Carolina.  I obviously showed up late because of work, and found my trailer parked next to his.  I’ve never heard of him and was only focused on winning due to the misfortunes I encountered the week before while leading with a few to go. 

I just know he approached me while I was constructing a game plan, said a few things, and then walked away. 

As he walked away, I smiled and came to the conclusion that I like that man. 

I’m trying so hard to remember what he said, but in the end, it doesn’t matter what he said. 

A great poet by the name Maya Angelou said, “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”

I can’t remember what Jackson said to me that day, but I’ve considered him one of my greatest friends the second he turned around and walked back into his trailer. 

Tonight, he’s fighting for his life, and even though I’ve only hung out with him for a week’s worth of time in my life, I feel like I’m losing one of my best friends.    

He’s tough as hell.  And he’s made it further than we expected.  The dude’s a badass.

Please pray for my friend!  

Please pray for one of our winged warriors.

Mike lost the battle today, but he certainly won the war.  Prayers to the family.

Sorry to hear about a good man losing the ultimate battle. Thank you Brandon for writing an inspiring, informative article. Sounds like the kind of person that many of us try to surround ourselves with. Fourtunatley you got to spend time with. A good memory lasts forever.
