If this topic is not allowed here I apologize now and accept it being deleted. However this forum is this Canadians only Avenue into the average lives of average Americans.

Also I am not complaing or trying to cause grief, nor expose any facts since my questions come from InstaGram posts.

A few drivers have posted pics and stories of holidays in other countries. How do you get permission to leave the country? I thought there was a lockdown ? Or is it only the Canadian border that is closed for travel?

Just trying to understand what the real rules are since the media is conflicting.

Thanks

Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

I travel extensively for my job. Here is a good place to start, also search the travel rules at the embassy websites for the country(s) you intend on visiting. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/international-travel.html

If you are on Twitter, check out Thomas Kennedy's page, @tjKennedy21k. Don't know if you can direct message him on his page but, he is a Canadian racer who from the sounds of it has had a hell of a time trying to get into the states to race this past summer. I believe is a Knoxville regular.

You can Fly anywhere from Canada and back but you've got to quarantine for 14 days on arrival back..I know a racer from Winnipeg with WOO Late Models who has a work visa and stays in the USA..He did this year any ways..I can fly to visit daughters family in America but have to quarantine on return...

American travelers still have a handful of desinations that are allowing Americans.  I follow a YouTube travel blogger "Gabriel Travels" and the past couple months he was in Mexico, Croatia, Turkey, and now back in Mexico.  He is a dual US/Canadian citizen so he has been in Canada as well.  There have been quarantine requirements and he wasn't able to cross the border into Greece but there are still some places allowing Americans to enter.

I retired two years ago intending to trave, got to Norway and never was able to make a second trip.  We were looking at a PNW and up into Canada.  Skagit is on my bucket list and I wanted to work that into the trip but Covid canceled our plans.

I have been traveling around the US pretty freely, okay, VERY freely.  When I fly, I find the planes are pretty full.  Not all amenities at the airports are open, though.  International travel has been curtailed, and not sure that it will return once this is cleared up.  I have been having a lot of Zoom/Microsoft Teams meetings with folks in our London office and clients (although they are home).  This alone may make in person meetings less frequent, although a face to face meeting is quite a bit better.

Our local news in Buffalo NY had a story recently how Canadian snowbirds are shipping their cars to the US on trucks, and then taking a helicopter to Buffalo.  Then they get their car and drive to Florida.
