This is great news--------------but also shocking news considering the economic circumstances.  If I were a betting man, I would have been near certain the points funds would decrease in 2021.  It will be interesting to see what impact covid will have on our economy over the next 12-24 months and how the racing economy will suffer/benefit.  Time will tell.  I know I've kept my job (so far) but I've also lost a significant amount of income.   It will be interesting to see how many people this ends up affecting in the long-term.

I hope they pay the B main and C main cars more as they usually get screwed on payout.

I thought you'd see a purse increase for the sprints because you saw one announced for the late models earlier in the year. Will be interesting to see the long term impact of COVID but I assume all outdoor spectator events are going to be a big attraction once the pandemic is over.

I absolutely do.  I didn't say they couldn't or shouldn't-----I said I'm surprised they did it with all of the uncertainty of the year ahead, that's all.  I think they had a phenomenal year.  However, if sponsor dollars stop or slow, I'm not sure how enthusiastic they will be.  I'm very happy about the increase and the sharing of the wealth-----just surprised it happened when it happened.  Kudos to them for the increase.

I agree folks will come back in droves.  I don't think gate $$$$ will be an issue.  More worried about big company dollars on the billboards, wings, trailers, and programs.  I just think about 2008-about 2012.  I don't think we have seen the impact of shutting down small-business America yet.  I think the 2021 economy will reflect the complete disregard our government(s) had for our small businesses----especially bars, restaurants, and small retail.  There are going to be a lot of folks that normally spend a lot of money on vacations, new cars, etc. that will be taking a year or 2 off so they can catch up on keeping their businesses afloat.  I can think of dozens of people personally that will be in this boat.  If there are dozens in my little corner of the world, imagine the impact and trickle down effect this will have on our national economy.  I hope I'm wrong and we just spring back to life and everyone who got stiffed out of a paycheck from their business, and every landlord that was denied rent payment, will just magically have money to contribute to the economy.

Something to consider is that at most tracks those are not Outlaw teams and the Outlaw management doesn't give a shit about them.

I am also surprised about this announcement.   I know that there is talk of a vacine soon, but we do not know when it will available to all.   I am expecting that we are going to be seeing crowd restrictions for most of 2021.   It would seem that without buts in the seats that it would be hard to pay more.

Perhaps as others have stated that we have turned the corner on the pay per veiw finances, but I am some skeptical of that.

Unless USAC increases their purse it will now pay more to start a WoO sprint race than finish 5th in a USAC sprint race.

I would predict the crowd restrictions to be short-lived in 2021.  Even without widespread vaccination for those that want it, it will have run through at least 50% of our population by late-winter.  This will at the very least slow it down enough for most states to reopen almost all businesses.  It will be a non-epidemic spread by that point----assuming last week's report about immunity lasting at least 6 months is correct.

I'm from Illinois, so I won't hold my breath on anything reopening----I think our governor won't be happy until every single small business owner is on the streets.  However, most normal, sane states will be hosting nice crowds again.  And I will be crossing state lines to drop my money off there while our governor scratches his head as to why we can't balance our budget.

And now USA you will have a Democrat government who is far left and pushes equality for everyone.(socialism)..We have the same type of government in Canada and its getting worse with the younger generations not wanting to work for what they want..Gimme Gimme Gimme..Enough political jargon..Hope to see big crowds and super racing again next year no matter what series or local Dirt Track..

The point fund breakdown is not realistic.  #1, I believe to qualify for the funds you have to be a platinum member. I'm not sure how many guys were on that list in 2020. WoO, takes care of the teams that follow there guidelines and become platinum members. Show money, pit tickets, and I'm sure other perks. But it's all good, the purse increase  I'm sure is welcomed by all.

Saw this yesterday and was surprised and impressed at the same time. Past couple years there have always been talks among fans about wanting to see purses get raised and it happens after what potentially could have been one of the worst years in the business. Instead they have taken many negatives and turned them into positives. I like that they increased the purse throughout the field and did not front load the purses at the top. Will help with car counts and traveling teams in the long run. Will it be sustainable? Who knows but after listeing to Brian Carter's interview on Winged Nation last week, it seems like business is good or at least a lot better than some would have thought. To have apparently 90races scheduled for next year with many other tracks still wanting dates shows while things may not be ideal, they are far from doom and gloom.

If you would have predicted in April/May that the Outlaws would have paid a full point fund for 2020, put out a 90race schedule, increase the purse, increase the point fund, have all teams for the most part return for 2021 plus some others then most would have said you were out of your mind.

While I like to see my favorite racing series be successful I have never concerned myself with driver purses.  One promoter I used to chat with in my writing days told me that raising purses, advertising events more all have a point of diminishing returns.  In other words, there are only so many cars and fans in a given region and at some point raising purses or advertisements no longer garner results.  With the Outlaws their member teams will be there and there are a limited number of teams that will be enticed into joining them.  In some places that might result in 50 car fields, where I live it will max out at around 30 cars and anything beyond that is going to be 360 teams attempting to make the field and collect start money.  This raise appears to be intended to go into Outlaw pockets and not significantly affect car counts.

I support the idea of race teams making more money but I'm kind of selfish so my first concern is my own bottom line.  I watch Vikings football and never concern myself with player contracts, my only concern is that games continue to be broadcast over free channels.  I'm like that with racing as well.  Does my retirement check still allow me to attend races or will this be the time I get priced out.  Likewise with PPV, does that price point change and I have to go back to YouTube highlights or will the price for a month of races still be affordable for me personally.

That is how a roll, selfish and not giving a damn about purses and PPV revenue sharing.  I make sure that I've got enough cash in my wallet to cover a pit pass and bite to eat and leave the financials up to the accountants.  wink

People are dumb................................purses and driver payouts do not drive ticket prices.  Ticket sales drive driver purses and payouts.  Period.  It's no different than those that believe high pro-athlete salaries drive ticket and souvenir prices.  Bogus.  Supply and demand for tickets, butts in the seats, high demand for merchandise, and tv revenue drives player's salaries-----------period!  Nothing else.  You won't every pay a dime extra because they give a professional athlete or race team more money.  Not a dime.  You will pay more money when the demand is there.

Never fails with sprint car fans it seems. Got to have something to complain about. No matter if it is a purse increase, a new event, new track, whatever the perk they will nitpick the crap out of it and figure out someway that they feel that they are getting screwed. Even if ticket prices were lowered some would figure out something to complain about. Some people will never be happy.

Won't be long and we'll see another flurry of tweets from non-wang drivers showing off winged cars they are assembling to 'play around with' next season.  It's like when my wife starts flirting with our Venezuelan pool boy to get my attention.
