I watched the late model races the last two nights a Charlotte on DirtVision. My complaint is that many times the audio reporters were talking about an event on track that the TV camera crew was not showing. This is way less than professional reporting. Why can’t the audio reporters and the TV crew cover the same track events at the same time?

Idiots would be a good word to use. Actually it shows how unprofessional they are at dirtvision.

That seems to happen with all the PPV channels. Announcer & cameraman need to coordinate better

Most PPV races have one announcer or announce team that goes out to both the track and the video stream. Since this isn't big-time TV broadcasting and rarely more than one camera angle, is there even a producer in the ear of the video person and announcer(s) to help sync things up?

I think this hits the nail on the head. If anyone watched the Big Blocks earlier in October for the week they ran in NYS with no fans, all the announcers had to do was announce to what was shown on DirtVision and they did a great job. With the same announcers having to announce to fans in the stands and at home, it's understandable they'll call what they see on track and not on screen.

I watched The Last Call both nights of the Late Models & 1st night of the sprints when it would continue to not freeze & buffer Friday night. It took till LCS for that to become viewable. However the announcers at the lm events were talking about stuff that was totally wrong when the problems were evident on screen. Not familiar with the cars I guess. What bothers me the most is the constant babbling between each of them in between races & on yellow flags. Please hire some people who can relate to the racing going on in front of them!

The sad truth is we are only "borrowing" the voice of the track announcers for PPV... They do and should owe their time to the paying audience at the event... At some point someone will try some type of "booth" broadcast similiar to other sports... But with revenue projected to go down I wouldn't expect anything soon....... Sadly, even then it probably will not go well as we have seen with the All Stars, more microphone time only means more and more commercial messages that do a pretty good job of downgrading the broadcast all by themselves. Building an audience seems to be almost an afterthought to sticking in more commercials for revenue. I can't seem to figure out what the game plan is here espcially with the WOO.... They seem really excited about CBS sports but for some reason reluctant to push Dirt Vision past what it is... I would assume for fear of ruining the gate sales but obviously I have no idea what they are thinking. but we should all remember this upcoming year is it would appear going to at least start the same way 2020 has gone as far as the virus... It might be a good time to just be thankful for anything we can get....
One final thought.. In another thread they are complaining about the track conditions at Charlotte. In this one... the complaint is the broadcast from Charlotte. I would hope somebody somewhere is listening to all this because frankly I think they can and should do much better.

USAC broadcasts on Flo already have separate announcers. What you hear from Rob Klepper is only sent to the Flo audience, and they tap into the track announcers for the support classes (although I believe Rob is still at the track most of the time). I think the complaint from the OP about commentating not matching what is on screen is less of an issue for them.

John Gibson does a good job announcing by himself normally. He didn't need the other guy putting his 2 cents worth in, which most of the time was not accurate. He made a mess of helping the late model guy, as well. Keep up the good work Gibson and leave the other guy at home.

I had no problems with buffering or freezing. This is almost certainly an internet issue at your house or with your provider. Otherwise, I would have been having issues as well if it were DV's problem.

Here goes again with my .02 cents worth... And I'm not a professional but I'm thinking we may be a bit rough on "some " of these words. Will tell.
MOST of the time ; (and I believe it's all of the time but I don't want to be a tool) on the broadcasts what the announcers are seeing on the track isn't what is being relayed on video. So, they don't have the up to snuff equipment and manpower that can switch camera angles and views to what the announcer is talking about and vice versa.
For example; if the announcer were to look at the video monitor and announce by that... we would only ever get what the announcer sees on his monitor. All I'm saying is that it's not as easy as it may seem to be ...
However; Dave Reiff is a good front man but he said he announced with Johnny 24 years ago. I think he forgets a lot of stuff. I about fell over when he made the mistake stating that Wayne Johnson and Greg Wilson were fighting for Rookie of the Year. Yikes. Yes, he needs a new job.
Now Chase Raudman is a good pit announcer. He knows what's going on and gets to the guys. As for Georgia; I'm not sure why she's there except maybe EEO.

If you guys don't like Georgia I sure hope she comes back to the USAC flo broadcasts. She is definately more than fluff she knows a little bit about cars and racing.. and she is a cutie.
