have people quit on the short track nationals... this race is still amazing. We got to get it back to what it was!

The only way it will ever get back to its glory days is to dump the limited sprints and go back to racing 410s!

having it the same weekend as the National Open is not smart move, why would we go to Little Rock to watch 360’s race for 10k when we can go to Williams Grove and watch 410’s race for 75k

I remember a lady doin a commentary video last year about the downward spiral of the STN, one of her comments that stuck in my mind was how the parking lots used to have as many cars from out of state as there were from Arkansas, but not anymore, saying it’s become a regional event, ....but at least this year it’s an ASCS National race instead of a Midsouth region race.

Wasn't there some disagreement or back & forth between ASCS and the track or promoter? Not sure of the details but I remember a few years ago the ASCS National Tour was in maybe Creek County (not sure if that is correct) during the STN, The Outlaws were at Port Royal, and there were other 360 races happening across the country as well.

Reason this sticks out is one of my favorite events of the year was Eldora's Sprintacular or Last Call for Methanol, which featured the All Stars 410, 360, and Boss non wing sprints. For years that show had well over 100 total cars, maybe close to 150 in 2016, and featured many great drivers doing double and triple duty. In 2017 I think they didn't have enough cars to run a B main in 2 classes due to STN, ASCS race, and I think a race up in Michigan or Indiana. I remember there being a discussion on here about a disagreement happening between a couple of parties.

It is a shame as this was a bucket list event for me. I have a few videos from High Vista Video of this event and the field of cars was always great. I think 1 year it happened after the World Finals in Charlotte which added many Outlaw drivers as well. Seems like scheduling conflicts have also hurt this event as it was usually one of the finales of the season in Sprint Car racing. Lately it seems it has been grouped in as another race to along with all others that weekend

They used to always seem to have the STN the same weekend as the Trophy Cup in CA.
One year they canceled the STN a week or so early due to rain and 1or 2 of the guys drove all they way to CA to run.
I'm sure more would have had they had a pre-entry.

Anyway; Trophy Cup draws 90 -360 cars some of which there is no doubt would be at the STN.

I watched on FLO. Sure wrecked a lot of stuff last night. The heats were bad because it was basically too fast and then it got rutty and choppy. Did it rain? Is that why it was so heavy?

I hope track conditions are better tonight, but it's a short track with a lot of beating and banging.  IMO that format with the heats and the qualifiers is too long and drawn out.   They could do a lot better than the ASCS format.   I eventually turned it off and went to bed.

That could definetly help.   Just talked to my cousin, who was actually at the track with his grandson.   They got up and left at exactly the same time I quit watching it on Flo.

was just checking the Friday results, don't recognize hardly any of those names, I don’t think a single one of those drivers in the Friday A feature has ever won a WoO or All Star race, the lack of heavy hitters is why we choose not to make the 8 hour drive down there anymore,

I can understand that.   Kinda wondered if Sammy wouldn't be at STN.  It's close to home and he's been competitive in 360s in recent years.   Of course I don't keep close track of his plans, but I didn't see where he was at the Grove either.   Maybe he shows at one of them tonight?   Other than that though, I don't think you'll see heavy hitters at this event again.   If they don't start running a better show with the drivers they've got, it'll decline further.

I barely made it through the heat races last night before calling it a night.  I was ready for some features, but another set of qualifers was too much to handle for some reason or another.

It's a 360 race... the only reason the 410 guys came out in previous years is because their season was pretty much over and there was nowhere else to run.  I personally enjoy watching local racers and the ASCS guys race for a decent purse.  The racing is often as good as you'll see anywhere else and being from the Northwest there are always a few guys for me to cheer for.
