No lock downs or mask requirements. Crowds seemed big early but certainly have tapered off as we go into summer. More to do again is some, hot the last two weeks, and chance of rain the week before. I'm making excuses for small crowds but it's not much smaller than typical. Always have to remember these grandstands absolutely dwarf most dirt track grandstands.

I've heard that the weekly crowd at Knoxville is around 3,000 to 3,500 people. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong on that, and I may very well be. A crowd of 3000 people is going to look extremely small in a facility that has that amount of grandstand capacity, which a couple of years ago, was over 24,000 people.

As far as hot goes, I've only been to Iowa during Nationals week. It has been hot during the day a couple of times when I've been there, but it always cools off nicely when the sun sets. At least by Texas standards it cools off nicely. Down here it's still hot and muggy this time of year, even after the sun goes down.

Even Outlaw shows sometimes look empty in that huge grandstand. If you don't get 7000 people, it's less than half full on the frontstretch let alone the backstretch.

Like I said I'm making some excuses. 94 yesterday with 105 real feel. I can handle the heat pretty good so it doesn't bother me but we were in a heat advisory which may be enough for some to say just forget it. That's probably a pretty nice average day in Texas.

Yeah, 94 with 105 degree feel is pretty close to Texas' every day weather. I used to handle it well, but now that I'm in my 50s I wilt in that heat!

Correct about grandstands. They sold 30,000 tickets to the Nascar All-Star race in Bristol. It looked like no one was there!!! But, they said they sold them all. (unless they lied) I have been to races at Knoxville and it seemed like it was pretty "packed"----only to see it on replay and it looks like no one is there. Stands look very deceiving for sure.
