BRODY ROA TAKES FOURTH AND MAINTAINS SOUTHWEST SERIES POINTS LEAD!
(Cypress, CA, October 31, 2019) A fourth-place finish last Saturday night in the USAC Southwest Sprint Car Series main at the Central Arizona Speedway allowed Brody Roa to maintain the series point lead heading into the final five races of 2019. After getting this weekend off, he returns to action on November 7th, 8th and 9th in the 24th Annual Oval Nationals at Perris Auto Speedway.
Eighteen cars showed up for the night of racing in the Copper State and Roa was fourth fast in qualifying with a time of 15.721 in the Tanner Grau #34. The veteran driver then came home second in his 10-lap heat race.
The qualifying time combined with his heat race finish put Roa on the outside of the front row for the 30-lap main event. Early on, the Garden Grove, California resident bided his time and ran second, but he raced into the lead on the 11th circuit and held the top spot for five laps.
The 28-year-old eventually slipped back to fourth at the finish in the highly competitive race. That allowed him to add a single-digit to his point lead and heads into the final five races of the campaign with a 10-point advantage over his closest pursuer.
Through the first 13 Southwest Series races in 2019, Roa has only finished out of the top-10 one time. He has racked up two wins, four second-place finishes and three times he placed third.
Last week’s race was the final stand-alone Southwest Series show of the year. The final five races will be combined with the USAC CRA and National Sprint Cars. The first three will be on November 7th, 8th and 9th at the 24th Annual Budweiser Oval Nationals Presented by All Coast Construction at Perris Auto Speedway. The Oval Nationals will be followed up by the 52nd Western World Championships Presented by San Tan Ford at the Arizona Speedway on November 15th and 16th.
