Before driving up for any IRA races, does anyone think now that Knoxville is done for the year, it could boost their attendance from travelers? I dont just mean T Stewart either. Years past I never minded spending 20$+ dollars to go to alot of their shows, because usually some good names show up... this year not the case. Low car counts and all around lack of quality competition/talent has kind of kept me from paying the admission and 3 hours in a car. Beyond Balog, Thiel and maybe two others...it gets weak fast. I will give them credit tho, these guys are mostly all hobby racers. Just seems like its sliding in the wrong direction fast, with no real local talent capable of moving up to keep up with the guys moving out. The wingless portion definately is moving towards the healthy premier division, will be interesting to see where that leaves the winged series in another few years.

Kerry Madsen usaully comes over and tears things up. I also wouldnt be surprised to see McCarls at Dodge county . they came here last month and won.

the wingless division is what is killing the IRA 410 division. i like the wingless guys but every year since its creation a couple guys leave the 410's to race with the wingless. i dont blame them either, a lot cheaper

I wouldn't be surprised to see Madsen and Terry over a few times. Especially during the northern WI swing in a few weeks. Sometimes Heskin and a few others come over as well for those shows. Which would be a huge breath of fresh air considering how low the competition is in this series currently. I agree with the original post with the lack of competition. They have been filling fields with steel block 360 cars just to reach the 20-22 car mark. B mains are almost non-existent in the series anymore. A few years ago they had a few younger guys with some feature wins that were really starting to get fast before the IRA ran them out of town. Its a shame seeing a series have up and coming talent that is just run out to keep the older dwindling teams happy and competitive

Well said. There were numerous MSA (steel spec) cars the last time I went that are 1.5-2 seconds off pace and in the way. I dont know if they think fans wont catch that they just paid $20+ for that or what lol. They are better off with 18 true 410's than trying to pump up their numbers by adding 5 rolling roadblocks

I do agree it is a little sobering that their car counts are way down and if they don't get support from Knoxville or Grand Forks the Northern tour could be extremely light in count.  I haven't even seen what is being added to the Richert memorial race at Cedar.....I know they try to bump the purse and incentives up to help the racers that show up.   So what young guys were run off? ....are they running elsewhere or out of sprints?

Theyre going to the IRA wisconsin wingless series, they use crate motors. that sereis has been growing every year. i believe it only had around 12 cars when it started 4 years ago. now it has around 37

There's probably some kind of lesson there for the sprint car world.

Unrelated: I'm getting a banner ad from The Crate & Barrel. I can live with that; folks gotta advertise. I'm just disappointed that a place called The Crate & Barrel isn't a wholesale wine, beer & spirits company.

watched quite a few descent drivers coming up -  P. Mock, Kristan, Alden, M. Vandervere, B. Nimee, Billy Hafemann, Tripplett, Hafford, Thone, and on.

Still 10 nights left, with the northern swing always a good time.
