New York, NY, 11/4/07 – Race/Network is proud to report that they will have Sean Buckley in the booth announcing all the great racing from the Western World Championships on Nov. 8-10. Many people know of Sean due to his ultra popular website JackSlash.com (http://www.jackslash.com).
Sean has had a year to remember in 2007 having been brought onboard to handle the Pit Reporting duties for the World of Outlaws broadcasts on SPEED and ESPN. Race/Network couldn’t be happier that Sean has decided to take time out of his busy schedule and really wanted to be part of the Western World broadcast on race/network.
“Sean has a great natural talent for this, he tells it like it is and has a terrific rapport with the fans so they feel like they are sitting around talking with one of their buddies” says Ian Marvuglio, co-Founder of race/network. “For Belleville, we had Rob Klepper and Bryan Gapinski calling the race and Rob has a great way of getting the fans excited about what is happening on the track and Bryan has such a wealth of Midget racing knowledge that with every word spoken the fans get to learn something new. We never set out to have the same ‘ol, same ‘ol broadcast, so we are counting on Sean to rock the house for the Western and look forward to hopefully working together on many more events”.
When asked, Sean commented about working on the LIVE broadcast by saying; "I am extremely excited and honored to call the event for racenetwork.tv at the Western World. I think it is very cool of race/network to step up and support the sport of Sprint Car, Midget, and Late Model racing like this. Ian and Brian at race/network really have their act together and the racing community is lucky to have them."
If you are not going to make the great racing of the Western World Championships in person, then log onto race/network (http://www.racenetwork.tv) and grab a package that best suits you. Individual day subscriptions are available as well as a discounted 3-Day pass. Pricing is as follows: Day 1 Only (Nov. 8) - $7.99, Day 2 Only (Nov. 9) - $8.99, Day 3 Only (Nov. 10) - $12.99, and an Event Package (all 3 days Nov. 8-10) for only $22.95, save over $7.00 from purchasing each day individually. The racing program for the 3 days at Manzanita Speedway will include Non-Wing 410 Sprint Cars and Super Late Models; the racing couldn’t get any faster on this ½ mile track with these 2 classes of cars running.
General membership is FREE to race/network and once a member; users will have the opportunity to choose from multiple packages for purchase. Additional information on Live Internet Streaming of the 2007 Western World Championships can be found at www.racenetwork.tv.

What a wonderful move. Anybody catch his horrendous description of a sprintcar on TV last night? It was painfully obvious he was receiving cues thru the headset. Nicely done. You've made the bigtime. Maybe along the way, you'll pick up some talent.

I have to agree with you there. I was told to pick three key points of a sprint car and do it in 30 seconds or less. I am here to tell you that it was my first tv LIVE show and I was nervous as hell. I usually keep it cool but I had a HUGE case of the nerves and I couldn't shake them for nothing. The segment didn't come out like I had planned and I was not pleased and was quite embarrassed of myself (to tell you the truth) But hey it's LIVE tv and the show must go on. I admit it was "FUGLY!"
If Steve Kinser never jumped a cushion and flipped, where would he be?
Have a nice day!

Let Harriet give it a try.
Sure would be cool to see Kevin Eckert help you out with the
broadcast. Bet he'd add a little color and excitement to the stream.

I wouldn't want to try it. TV production companies just sometimes don't do the best job of picking their on camera guys. My question is where were the usual "Live" sprint car broadcasters like Ralph Shaheen and Dave Argabright? Does the production company not believe in the heavy use of "seasoned" veterans?

Give Sean some time and he'll be fine. Brad Doty is so much better now than when he started and he would probably agree with me about that...
Shaheen tries too hard to make a boring race exciting ("...and here's the great battle for 13th place..."). Maybe he's told by his employer to hype it up. We all know that some races are stinkers and it's impossible to polish a turd. He is very knowledgeable though and that shows in all of the different types of racing that he covers...
There isn't a better writer today than Argabright but his early TV efforts were a little rough. He would be better utilized if he did pre-taped human interest features where the writer side of him could shine...
(Did you catch that guy doing the late model race on Saturday night? He can't say "3rd place". It's always "position number 3". He could be so much better if he was more natural).
While I'm on my soapbox, are broadcasters paid by the word? Is there anything wrong with letting the picture tell the story? If there was 50 percent less talk the broadcasts would be 100 percent better. Sometimes less is more...
