1) I see 3 teams were DQ'ed for illegal tires after qualifying for the 360's. What was illegal? Compound, soaking...?
2) It was the first time I have seen people seated on the back stretch for a weekly show (unless I have missed it in the past). Are they selling seats back there now for weekly shows?
3) The change from 305 to Pro Sprints really hit the car count. Gotta wonder if guys are still getting things ready or was that a bad move to change the motor rules.
Anyone got any feedback.

Not sure on the tires.
I believe there was a sponsor event being held on the backstretch. The only people that usually sit back there during weekly shows are the Dunkins.
3 of the top 5 in 305 points last year (Bridger, Leavitt, and Jenkins) plus another promising up & comer (Watt) jumped up to the 360 class this year. Kubli also stepped up to a 360. Simbro made the curious leap from 305 to 410. Hetrick appears to have taken on the role of car owner and jumped up to the 360 class, with Higday driving for him. Some (or all) were maybe influenced to take a step up due to the change in the rules, not sure. Either way, it's a good thing to have your younger talent keep moving up. Hopefully these same guys can continue to progress, maybe impress enough people to get additional sponsorship, and move up to a 410 in a year or two. It's not like this class went from 25-30 to 10 cars overnight... they were hovering in the teens last year. I've never been a huge fan of 305's at Knoxville (track is too big, IMO) ... but if it's a more affordable means to help guys work up through the ranks, I hope the new rules package is the long-term answer.

I was not there but if I had to guess the tire deal was probably a compund issue. 360 racing nationwide uses a lot of different compunds and I'm sure Knoxville has a certain tire rule so it would be easy for someone to accidentally run a illegal compound. I'm almost positive Baughman got DQ'd last year in his qualifying night at 360 Nationals for the same thing (not saying they meant to cheat, only pointing it out). You really can't DQ someone on the spot for doping unless its absolutely obvious, most tires have to be cut and sent away for that. More than likely a compund issue.

It is my understand that the Pro Sprint crate engines are on back order from GM due to some changes they are making. I doubt if anyone tried to cheat with tires. The LR tire rule seems to be different at many track and would be easy to not even think about it when going to another track.

I don't mind the 305 class, and can appreciate why the 305 runs at Knoxville. Be thankful there's English Creek Speedway getting kids behind the wheel too.
I know there are some haters on class but keep in mind who's joining this class. Do we really want someone who hasn't ran a sprint car to jump into a 410 or 360. There are obviously exceptions, as there is with everything.
If I already have a car in that class, and hear I need to buy a new spec engine, I too would seriously consider jumping up.

Another question. Higday was not awarded any points for the whole night. Why.? Hope he told the officials what he thought of the lame ass penalty they gave him in the heat race and how it screwed him for the rest of the night. Kubli was obviously sleeping on the starts or his motor wouldn’t take off.

Is the chassis the same from 305 to 360 to 410?

The format they used combined qualifying pts & heat race finish pts... top 20 in combined points after qualifying/heats locked in to the A. A-Mac was 2nd quick, Dobmeier was 25th... huge difference in points (46). A-Mac ended up 6th in pts & lucked into the pole via the invert. Dobmeier was 25th in pts & had to run the B.

Go to Knoxville raceway website & read the rules. Format is very clearly spelled out there.

Again go to Knoxville website. It's all explained there. I believe if he was at practice night and broke something and could not get ready in time to race but Eric was in attendance he does receive some points. Bill can clarify or you can read it yourself at knoxvilleraceway.com.

If the knoxville website is so clear and packed with details why do you only think you know?
And to be fair to others, most websites have very little info about schedules let alone the points rules. I know knoxville is an exception so I can't blame anyone for not thinking to look at a website for these explanations.
Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

I know!..... maybe some people can't do maf. So they are asking a serious question, how is so in so in front of my favorite driver. They just want you to do the maf for them.

Thanks for answer, didn't realize they had went to this format. And you are right, it CLEARLY states the rules on their website, including how they invert six in the heats so the fastest qualifier starts outside of row one of the first heat......
seems pretty clear with that explanation.
WEEKLY RACE NIGHT PROCEDURES
Race Night Lineup Point Structure
We use a point system to determine our feature lineups for all sprint car classes on weekly race nights. Drivers start with time trials and are awarded the following points:
Time Trials - 1. 200; 2. 198; 3. 196; 4. 194; 5. 192; 6. 190; 7. 188; 8. 186; 9. 184; 10. 182; 11. 180; 12. 178; 13. 176; 14. 175; 15. 174; 16. 173; 17. 172; 18. 171; 19. 170; 20. 169; etc.
Heats have an invert of six, with quick time starting outside row one of the first heat, second quick starting outside of row three of the second heat, and so on.
Drivers are awarded points for their heat finishes:
Heats - 1. 100; 2. 97; 3. 94; 4. 91; 5. 88; 6. 85; 7. 82; 8. 79; 9. 76; 10. 73; 11. 70; 12. 67.
The driver accumulating the most points through qualifying and the heat race, will draw for a feature lineup invert. The invert options are 0 (high point man starting on the pole), 4 (starting the feature outside row two), 6 (starting the feature outside row three) and 8 (starting the feature outside row four). The second highest driver in points will start on the same row inside, third highest in points will start outside the row in front of them, and so on.
Drivers starting outside the invert will line “heads up” by their point totals. Starting with the B main, drivers will be lined up by their qualifying time.
