Planning a trip with the family to the Kings Royal this year. We are hoping to camp, if spots are still available. Any suggestions for a first timer?

Go early and try to camp at the side of the track, easier to enter grandstand area.between one and two..Close with sewer removal and clean up..You'll enjoy it..On your way in from Rossberg take your camera, lots of Americana along the way..Try to get campsite asap as they don't last long..

Went last year for first time Track and three day experience was amazing.
Be sure to get to the inside of turn three during hot laps. Put your hand on the fence. Get ready to feel the rumble in your chest. Earplugs recommended.
Take the time to engage drivers in conversations. They're much more approachable than I would have guessed. They're thankful for your support.

To build on the Turn 3 advice....during hot laps, make sure you spend a little time standing at the top of the steps of the tunnel on the OUTSIDE of the track - you get little snippets of the cars screaming by so the sense of speed is crazy fast, and you can really see how the cars squat down as they enter the corner....every time I go I make sure to take any newbies to that spot and it never fails to make jaws drop. As far as camping, you can always camp across the road with no problems and no reservations needed - lots of space. Not quite as convenient as being on the same side of the road as the track, but it’s a 5-10 min walk. And it’s easy to get the pit pass - $5 upcharge after you get your regular ticket so it won’t break the bank. Bring a Sharpie for lots of autographs for the kids - drivers are great for engaging - will sign and pose for pics as long as you get there early or come down after.

I have used a tent for the May event but never have tried it for the Kings Royal event. I would call the track and ask as the staff has always been helpful for me. I believe the past several years they have had record crowds so I would make sure you have tickets especially for Saturday. Enjoy the event, it is one of my favorites each year.

I don't believe all lots are tent friendly. Eldora's website will have that information. We tent every year for the King's Royal in Eldora Village which is directly across the road from the track and depending on where your site is would be a 5 to 10 minute walk away.

The Northside camping is tent friendly. Not too bad of a walk from turns 3 and 4. They have showers available (in the mornings, for a fee). Also, there are trucks that drive through the camp grounds selling Ice, Firewood, Potable water and septic tank services. Ive never had a bad time at the royal. Everyone that camps around you is usually pretty friendly. It can be a party atmosphere if you are bringing kids so keep that in mind.

I'm embarassed after my ridiculous comment on wrong "Royal"..... but, if you need something to do during the day, I highly recommend American Bicycle Museum (or some such name...) in New Bremen. I thought it would be mildly interesting, but it was really amazing. They had all sorts of wild creations before modern "safety bike", back in the old days when there were machine shops & manufacturers all over the USA
They even had abike that set some outlandish speed record riding behind a midget racer with a piece of plywood on the back to create a drafting situation.... you should see the sprockets on that thing!

This is the one in New Bremen. Turns out somebody went 183 mph on a bike recently at Bonneville, same idea, but behind a dragster: https://books.google.com/books?id=69kDAAAAMBAJ&pg=RA1-PA55&lpg=RA1-PA55&dq=bicycle+sets+record+behind+midget+racer&source=bl&ots=q3OcyxF62p&sig=ACfU3U3JF34Z9ZtI1wiig6LCdLCuHjFzkA&hl=en&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjY54ex4eHhAhUmxVkKHbU7BwsQ6AEwE3oECAgQAQ#v=onepage&q=bicycle%20sets%20record%20behind%20midget%20racer&f=false

Tent camping options, Lot 5 on track side, northside campingn, the new Silo lot, Eldora village through the Eldora website or google "speedy camping/parking" next to Eldora village but owned privatly.
Showers, I would recomend google "Cottonwood campground Versailes Ohio". Its about a 15 min drive from speedway to the East. they charge $5-$6 a shower for non campers after 9:00am, but no timelimit, hot water, and are pretty clean. Or you could call and see if they have any openings for that weekend. its a clean & older campground with full grown trees for shade on most lots. No shade trees for campers at the speedway, open fields for camping. I always go there for showers whenever I camp at the races then hit a small village bar/resturant for breakfast.
If your looking for some small bar/resturants to eat or drink a few in some A/C heres a list of race fan friendly places.
Ansonia - Whistle Stop (Sponsored Haudenschild's over the last few years) serves breakfast
YorkShire- E&R's pub
St.Henry -St.Henry nightclub (yes its a resturant, lol) serves breakfast , Fish Moes, &the Dairy Bar on the corner.
Burkettsville-Wagon Wheel resturant, serves breakfast
Needing campground food & ect. try these local places
"Winners Meats" in Osgood
Brits Store in New Weston.
IGA grocery store / State liqour store in St. Henry
All thsese listed above are less than 15min from Eldora speedway.
Now 15-20 min are towns of Greenville (South) & Celina (North) that has your Walmarts & Menards (Celina) & fast food places.
hope this helps.

Tony: "That means your at a real racetrack"
