This is all that I have read on another message board from a member of the family. I know his mother and have her email addy so will email her to find out more and give moral support. Love the Howards, always did, plus want to make sure I am kept on their Christmas Card list.
Get well Josh, my friend
SURGERY WENT WELL......HE ONLY HAD A NICK IN HIS SPINAL CORD, WHICH WAS REPAIRED, FIRST THOUGHT THEY WERE GONNA HAVE TO GO IN THROUGH THE BACK AND FRONT OF HIS NECK TO REPAIR THE C5 VERTEBRAE, BUT THEY ONLY HAD TO GO THROUGH THE FRONT.

I would like to wish this young man a speedy and full recovery.
I also have a question concerning how he got hurt. Does anyone know what contributed to his injury? Was it a safety equipment malfunction, another car entering the cockpit, or just a "lucky hit"?
As far a racetracks go, the mph at I-30 is down compared to other tracks and you wouldn't expect a real serious injury from a crash. I think most racers would like to hear any circumstances of this crash to help keep themselves safe.Thanks.

gdude - From what I understand, it was a compression fracture. People I've talked to that were there said that he was about 25 feet in the air, and came down on all 4 wheels. It seems to me that safety equipment can't be blamed, only the circumstances.

Yes they are out of Byhalia.
And here is the latest I got off another message board from a family friend.
GREAT NEWS!!!!!!
Just got an update from Jan....Josh is eating and as of this morning could feel some "tingling" in his toes!!!!
On behalf of the entire Howard family, I'd like to bestow a ton of grattitude for everyone's thoughts and prayers for Josh. Seeing what the entire racing community is doing for this young man, everyone coming together is awesome. Thanks again!
