The van that I use to pull my old super with is missing at idle and going down the road. I changed the ignition coil and spark plugs yet still it misses.

It's a 1994 Ford van with a 351, I'd really appreciate a push in the right direction. Thank you.

I will be doing that next right after I eat my humble pie. That idea was brought up this morning since the originals had been faithful for 135,000 miles!

i will just about bet you start that thing up at night and it looks like a thunder & lightening storm under the hood with all of the sparking with 135,000 miles they should have been replaced about 50,000 miles ago

My first guess would also be a vacuum leak. The last time that happened to me I spent hours trying to trace it down and couldn't find anything wrong. As it turned out I got some bad gas. After a couple of fillups from another station it was running just fine.

As far as I know, this van is the only vehicle I have that was made AFTER Nixon resigned. LOL

I'm not used to all these wires and vacuum hoses. Plugs, wires, dist. cap, ign. coil have been changed. Vacuum leaks have been looked for at the local auto shop. No change yet.

I'm even to the point of wondering about the alternator. I'll be checking that today.

Be happy you can even see the plugs and wires. Look under the hood of a new one and be thankful you have what you have. Good luck

Your problem may be a bad cam. Today's motor oils are hard on early can shafts. Pull off the plug wires one at a time with the engine running and see if you can tell if there is a dead cylinder. Then check the plug for fire. Change the plug out and see if there is an improvement. You could just have a faulty plug even though it's new. If the engine is still missing on the same cylinder the cam could have lost a lobe. Also check the condenser in the distributer thay can cause a miss too. If you have not changes your timing chain that could also be stretched and the timing is changing. Goodluck.
