Saturday night B-main win highlights Fall Nationals for Brett Miller

By Gary Thomas

Chico, CA - October 8, 2007...The winged sprint car portion of the 2007 season at Silver Dollar Speedway came to an end on Saturday and it saw Chico’s Brett Miller win the B-main before finishing 20th in the 40 lap finale at the 16th annual Pacific Sprint Fall Nationals. The 18 year-old looked to be on his way to great point total during his Thursday night prelim, until he caught a rut and was forced to charge back through the field on a very fast racing surface.

The Fall Nationals kicked off on Thursday night and after winning the third heat race he pulled the number one pill for the seven lap dash. "The Catfish" jumped out into the lead and led the first handful of laps until former World of Outlaw driver Shane Stewart was able to get by. Brett stayed focused and was able to finish the dash in second aboard the Care Free Pools, Platinum Powder Coating, River City Pools No. 1x.

Lining up third in the feature, Brett hung strong with a bevy of talented sprint car drivers scattered throughout the top 10. He was running solidly in the top five when a rut in turn four upset the 1x machine and nearly sent him upside down. He was able to stay on all fours but stopped on the front straightaway to bring out a caution. Brett was pushed back out and did a good job over the final 15 laps to get back up to a 10th place finish in the JP’s Paint & Body, Al’s Concrete, Wolfe Electric Maxim.

A total of 91 cars competed over the two prelim nights and when points were tallied Brett found himself sitting just a few points shy of automatically making the A-main. His total was good enough however, to give him the pole for the 20 lap B-main event.

After running some hot laps with the other B-main cars he went out and handled the field with ease to pick up the victory and transfer into the 40 lap Fall Nationals finale. Starting 20th, Brett diced it up with several cars right around that position until he suffered a flat tire and was forced to pit to get it fixed. He was pushed out to rejoin the field and went on to finish the Fall Nationals in the 20th spot.

The 2007 winged sprint car season at Silver Dollar Speedway was an up and down one for Brett and Care Free Pools Racing, but everyone had a good time and gained a lot of valuable experience to take into next year. Look for Brett to compete next week in a wingless sprint car for the first time at Silver Dollar Speedway’s wingless sprint nationals.

Stephen Allard finishes 7th at Pacific Sprint Fall Nationals

By Gary Thomas

Chico, CA - October 8, 2007...Chico’s Stephen Allard competed for the final time in 2007 at Silver Dollar Speedway and closed out the season with a seventh place finish aboard the 1m Racing, Cross Creek Trucking, Finley Farms, Rocket Chassis machine. The current Silver Dollar Speedway track champion was able to get a 360 engine for the weekend making it possible to compete at the 16th annual Pacific Sprint Fall Nationals.

The Fall Nationals uses a three day format where the field is split into two qualifying night groups. Stephen and 1m Racing took to the track on Thursday night looking to score as many points as possible to earn an up front starting spot on Saturday. After qualifying eighth quickest in the field of 33 cars, Stephen brought home a second place finish in his heat race and the dash. He then lined up on the outside of the second row in the 30 lap feature and had a strong run on the hooked up surface to bring home a third place finish aboard the JP’s Paint & Body, Miller’s Glass, Platinum Powder Coating No. 1m.

Coming into Saturday night Stephen sat sixth in points out of 91 total cars, automatically locking him into the 40 lap Fall Nationals A-main event. The Chico native carved his way forward early on to get into the fourth spot and do battle with brother Jonathan over the first few laps. The track was slick and had formed multiple racing grooves which made for some outstanding action on the 1/4 clay oval. Stephen spent the entire race battling within the top 10 and exchanged positions frequently as the race wore on. The fans were treated with one of the best races of the year and Stephen sat in seventh when the checkered flag came out.

The 2007 winged sprint car season at Silver Dollar Speedway was definitely one to remember for the team. The whole 1m Racing gang did a terrific job all season and Stephen was fantastic behind the wheel as he put together the best season of his career. We would like to thank all of our sponsors who have supported us this season and made it possible for the success. Stay tuned to

Jonathan Allard finishes 5th at Fall Nationals

By Gary Thomas

Chico, CA - October 8, 2007...Coming into the 16th annual Pacific Sprint Fall Nationals, Chico’s Jonathan Allard was looking to break out and pick up his first career win at the event. After a hard fought weekend it didn’t end up how we would have hoped, but Jonathan did turn in his 13th and 14th top five finishes of the year at Silver Dollar Speedway and tied his personal best finish in the Fall Nationals.

The event for winged 360 sprint cars began on Thursday and it saw Jonathan set fast time out of the 33 cars in attendance aboard the GT Trends, K & N Filters, Red Line Oil No. 0. A fourth place finish in the opening heat race followed by a third place finish in the dash put Jonathan in the third row for the 30 lap preliminary night feature. The track remained very fast which made passing tough to do in the main event and with a number of yellow flags, it made rhythm a tough thing to find. Jonathan ran in the top five throughout the contest and brought the Williams Motorsports machine home in fourth place at the checkered flag.

After a new crop of drivers hit the speedway on Friday night, points were tabulated and Jonathan found himself sitting in the fourth position out of a field of 91 cars. Saturday night saw all main events and Jonathan didn’t have to hit the track until A-main hot laps which were held just before the B-main event. JA was the fastest driver during the A-main hot lap sessions and looked to be good to go, but the track changed by the time the 40 lap main event rolled around.

The traditional four abreast led up to the final winged sprint car main event of the season at Silver Dollar Speedway and the 1/4 mile bullring was in great shape with multiple grooves for drivers to utilize. Jonathan spent the first few laps battling with older brother Stephen for the fourth spot before he went to work on Shane Stewart for third. JA hounded Stewart for a couple laps before sweeping around him on the high side during lap nine. The pair battled it out for a few laps before Stewart was able to get back underneath for the position.

Jonathan remained on the top but got off the edge at one point and had fallen back to as far as 10th. He didn’t give up though and remained composed before giving it another charge back to the front. The slick track made for some dicey moments and he had a three wide battle going into turn one late in the race with Brad Furr and brother Stephen. JA was able to get the position and brought the Chris Jones Racing, JP’s Paint & Body, A.R.T. Speed Equipment, Platinum Powder Coating No. 0 home in fifth place for the third time in his career at the Fall Nationals.

It was a consistent weekend of action at the Pacific Sprint Fall Nationals and the Williams Motorsports team will now turn to focus on the World of Outlaws Dave Helm Memorial this Saturday at Tulare’s Thunderbowl Raceway. For more info and news on Jonathan Allard and the Zero Heroes log onto
