Bud Kaeding charges to 4th at Pacific Sprint Fall Nationals

By Gary Thomas

Chico, CA - October 7, 2007...Returning to Silver Dollar Speedway for the first time since May, Campbellā€™s Bud Kaeding showed no signs of rust at the 1/4 mile bullring as he gave it hard run and came home with a fourth place finish in the 40 lap Fall Nationals finale. The 27 year-old driver competed in the 16th annual event aboard the Werbach Motorsports, Los Gatos Construction No. 20 and ran on Saturday with a heavy heart after the passing of his grandmother on Friday.

Following prelim action where he qualified third quick and finished fifth in the feature, Bud and the 20 team sat 10th in points out of 91 cars coming into Saturday of the Fall Nationals. The Silver Dollar Speedway surface had slicked off nicely for the 40 lap finale and it made for some of the best racing of the season at the Chico track. Bud immediately went to the top side of the raceway early on and began to dice it up with a number of competitors.

Bud and brother Tim were a couple of the first drivers to find the high-side and they both utilized it to put on a great show for the fans. Bud was trying hard and looked like he had been racing a winged sprint car all year as he more than held his own with some of the top drivers on the west coast. The car was extremely fast and despite having a tire seal over during the race he was able to bring the Werbach No. 20 home in fourth place, one of his best runs aboard a winged sprint car this season.

It turned out to be a very solid weekend of action for Bud at the Fall Nationals and showed that with a good car he can still wheel a winged sprinter with the best of the them. With a great weekend of action in the books, Bud will be back at the helm the 20 car in the upcoming Trophy Cup at the Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, Calif.
