1. Any have recommendations on the best seats or the seats to avoid? I like to be up high for the best view.  I'm thinking the  top of Section9? Opinions?

2. What is everyone's overall opinion of the ASCoC and WOO races at Dirt Nationals?  For comparission I'm very familiar with the central PA tracks - Port Royal, Williams Grove, Lincoln, Selinsgrove, Path Valley, Susquehanna.

3. Any other comments or suggestions are appreviated.

The stands are very close to the track relatively speaking, sort of like a Port Royal feel. When I went I sat a little ways down from the flagstand towards Turn 4 and could see everything. Stands aren't real high, but infield stays clear so you can see the entire track.

Don't get reserved seats, they're too small for 90% of the people there so there's absolutly no room for anyone. Dress warm, the Florida air is damp so it feels colder than it is. The track is really fast but usually the racing isn't spectacular, but its Sprintcars in February so its worth going to.

The All Star races will have the same cars as the Outlaws' a few lower dollar teams may not run with Outlaws. It's a crazy fast track! We sit in pit grand stands typically. The crowd is about 1/3 for All Stars versus Outlaws. They have a great food selection since they run for two weeks nightly.

Definately  pack your winter clothes! It's a week later this so hopefully we get late model weather. We've been going for over ten years and it is always cold then the late models get mid-70's!

Genral admission is the way to go and they give free pit passes, which I wish they wouldn't.

Enjoy!

So almost all replies indicate not to get reserved seats.  That surprises me.  I would really like to have my seats before I travel.

Except for one or two nights there is plenty of room in the grandstands without getting a reserved seat and even the packed nights are fine if you get there early, because it can be a late arriving crowd.  IMO the reserved are not worth the extra money.  Plus they are only the top 5 or 6 rows so most of the bleachers are general admission.  The infield is wide open and you can see the track well from everywhere.  I have sat in every section of the grandstands, high and low, I have stood all around the track and even in the pits, and have never had a visibility issue.  Just be careful if you stand down by the turn 1 concessions...lots of mud marbles thrown off the track.  If you want to sit relatively high just get there a little early (an hour or so before time trials is plenty) put a blanket down on one of the rows just under the reserved seats and go stand in line to get the free wristband and take a walk around the pits.

The track on a cool night is wicked/scary fast.  Although the racing is a little better on the warmer nights when it widens out and slicks up.  It is a very wide track, so there can be very good racing in the Mods and if the weather cooperates, the Sprints.  IMO, when it is colder, the speed is exciting even without the passing.  Also, even if it is in the 70's during the day, keep an eye on what the low temps will be.  Damp high 40's and low 50's even are still cold when you've had warm sun all day...and some nights will be a bit frosty.

take goggles and sit in the pit grandstand coming off 2...dress like you are going to the Icebreaker 30 at Lincoln.

carnival food vendors last time we were there.

traffic getting out of the place is a pain in the ass.

piss around inside or stop by Donnie Schatz rig and drop off a case of Yuengling as they celebrate the beginning of their next championship season.

I like you way of thinking but the Yuengling would go elsewhere!

Trying to remember that treat you and Tommy Bahama had that I loved, man it is tough getting old.  Say Hi to the big lug for me and Season's Greetings to the both of you!!

Posse Man, the races are decent, the track does get used a bit as the week wears on, wish they could maintain it as much, a high speed joint though....

Thanks guys for the comments. Looking forward to the trip. Looks like a sizable group of Posse drivers are heading south this year.

Hey Mike! Man those were good times! Back when my Wings were dominate. I'll say hello to him for you.

Still a Wings fan and glad I got to watch McDavid in juniors when they came to Plymouth, MI. He is something special!

Merry Christmas Mike!

What's up Nelligan?! You old shutterbug you! Old Tommybahama is a grandpa 3 times over, sold my Atlanta company in 2016, still have my hometown business tho. Signed a 7 year contract with the purchaser and I've been on over 100 flights this year. I wrote a book 2 years ago and they're flying me all over the place to teach other advisors how to do it correctly, LOL.

Hope you're well old friend, all in all it was a rough 2016 for me, I'm looking forward to 2017. Love to see you around sometime, always fun to relive old times with you!

Dave

Ahh, the Dead Wings, just glad to see my Flyers win their final game ever at the Joe Lou, unless the Wings make the play-offs, nah..You have a great Holiday Season yourself Mac Daddy!

Great news David, you always were meant for more when we crossed paths years ago.  A good mind, some hard work and presto a dozen years later a major success, almost overnight, lol.  Big props to you my friend.  I have lots of years on you (67 now) but not a grampa, my oldest Daughter is too busy making money like you and the younger ones and just that, too young!  Hope the Christmas Season is a blessing, maybe one of those grand-kids will be racing 1/4 midgets and up down the road, hope I'm around to see it, Take It Easy.....

I would suggest going to Don Garlits museum in nearby Ocala. Incredible collection of drag racing history, not just Garlits cars....even the original "Hot Rod Lincoln" (V-12 in a Model A)
