CAMARGO, IL (12-12-06) – Guy Webb, president of the All Star Circuit of Champions, has announced that the All Star Circuit of Champions has completed the purchase of the Mid American Sprint Series from Scott Benic and Joe Darmofal. The MASS series previously competed in the Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio area in 2004 and 2005 but was inactive in 2006. “I recognized the need to help bolster 410 winged sprint car racing in the Midwest,” said Webb, “and we will operate the series mainly in Illinois, Missouri, Indiana, and Iowa.” The group will also co-sanction various races with the All Star Circuit of Champions.

“We’re working on a 20 to 25 race schedule,” Webb stated. “This will be a $2000 to win, $200 to start series and I think we will have the support of some good race teams in this area.” The revitalized series will still carry the “MASS” moniker, but those letters will now represent the new name “Midwest All Star Series”. The group will be governed by the same rule book used by the All Star Circuit of Champions and will follow the same points structure. Membership forms will be available soon along with the 2007 schedule of events. An All Star Circuit of Champions membership includes eligibility to accumulate season points with both groups. The MASS series will have a season championship point fund as an incentive to the drivers who wish to travel with the group.

O’Reilly Auto Parts, who recently signed a multi-year deal with the All Stars as the series title sponsor, will also be involved with the new MASS series. The addition of the Midwest All Star Series to the mix will help O’Reilly Auto Parts to increase their exposure and provide additional advertising opportunities to them across the Midwest. “I’m extremely pleased to have O’Reilly Auto Parts be involved with our efforts to help strengthen 410 winged sprint car racing in this area,” said Webb. “Enthusiasm and cooperation is what it will take to move this sport ahead in 2007.”
