King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series gearing up for a busy & exciting summer of racing throughout the Golden State
Amendment made to KWS minimum age requirement

By Gary Thomas

Aptos, CA – June 14, 2016…With the summer kicking into full gear and the weather heating up, so does the racing for the King of the West Sprint Car Series over the next couple months, as the busiest stretch of the season begins at this weekend’s Jimmy Sills Classic in Stockton.

Along with this Saturday’s event the King of the West 410’s will also invade the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds facility for the rescheduled Salute to LeRoy Van Conett on Sunday July 10, which features an hour early start time. In addition to the special Sunday showcase at the Stockton Dirt Track, the series will also compete at Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford the night before on Saturday July 9. The Hanford/Stockton double header is just part of what will be an action packed next two months.

The cool confines of Ocean Speedway in Watsonville will play host to a pair of marquee events, starting with the 31st annual Pombo/Sargent Classic on Friday June 24. The prestigious showcase is part of a big weekend that finishes up at the Calistoga Speedway on Saturday June 25 in the annual Wine Country Classic. The outing at the famed half-mile will be the first night of racing at the Calistoga Speedway in 2016.

KWS then returns to Ocean Speedway on Saturday July 16 for the sixth annual Howard Kaeding Classic. The HK Classic is always one of the fun weekend’s all year. More info will be out soon regarding the special happenings taking place. Friday night July 15 also features a Civil War 360 Sprint Car Series presented by Flowmaster vs Ocean Sprints presented by Taco Bravo event for the third straight season.

The King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series will then venture to Merle Stone Chevrolet Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare on Friday & Saturday July 22 & 23 for the third annual Peter Murphy Classic. The event has quickly become one of the major ones in all of California and this season is the first time that it will be held over two nights. A post race party with live music, food and drinks will also take place following Friday’s race on the fairgrounds. Reserved tickets for the Murphy can be purchased by calling 559-688-0909.

The busy month of July will be capped with the second visit of the season to the always exciting Placerville Speedway bullring on Saturday July 30. Its marks the middle portion of three season visits to the popular El Dorado County Fairgrounds venue this year. All in all the King of the West 410’s will be in competition on six of the next seven weekends, making this the most critical stretch of the campaign.

An amendment is also being made to the KWS rulebook effective immediately. The minimum age requirement to compete with the King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series, pending insurance approval, is now lowered to 15 years of the age. Those wishing to compete in KWS events at 15 are required to meet criteria of the insurance company and that of the racing organization. For more info simply contact John Prentice of Prentice Motorsports Group at (855) 410-7223 or Brent Kaeding at (408) 371-3031.

The King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series is held under the management of Prentice Motorsports Group, which also operates the Civil War 360 Sprint Car Series presented by Flowmaster, the Ocean Sprints presented by Taco Bravo, the Wingless Sprint Car Series presented by Hunt Magnetos, the All Star Modified Tour and Ocean Speedway.
