Amsoil USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series

USAC/CRA SPRINT CARS HEADLINE PERRIS ACTION THIS SATURDAY

JUNE 8, 2016... This Saturday, June 11th, the Amsoil USAC/CRA Sprint Cars will return to Perris Auto Speedway for an action packed night of racing. Promoted by Don Kazarian, the fifth point race will also feature the PAS Senior Sprint Cars and PAS Young Gun Sprint Cars. Located on the Lake Perris Fairgrounds in Perris, California, the spectator gates at "America's Premier Dirt Track" will open at 5:00pm and racing is scheduled for 7:00pm. NOTICE TO USAC/CRA COMPETITORS: The Hoosier 105/16 Medium is the ONLY legal right rear tire and all four corners must be Hoosier tires. The Hoosier 105/16 Medium is also the current legal tire with the USAC West Coast, USAC SouthWest, and VRA Sprint Cars. Cars must pass a tech inspection and one-way radios are mandatory for drivers. USAC/CRA charges a $25 entry fee to all competitors and the series rule book can be found online at www.usacracing.com.

Since March 6, 2004, the Lake Perris Fairgrounds has held 184 USAC/CRA Sprint Car events. “The Demon” Damion Gardner leads all drivers with 37 victories and Nic Faas set the 1-lap qualifying record of 15.833 on February 25, 2012. This season, Indiana’s Bryan Clauson, New Mexico’s Josh Hodges, and California’s Austin Williams have already claimed victory at USAC/CRA’s ‘home track.” A complete series win list at Perris Auto Speedway is at the end of this release.

Heading to Perris, Brody Roa (Garden Grove, California) leads the USAC/CRA standings with a six point advantage. Piloting the BR Performance owned #91R HD Industries / Lee & Norma Leonard Maxim, Roa scored eighth at the May 28th Perris “Salute to Indy” after suffering mechanical problems. To date, the defending 360 Western World Champion has one Woodland Auto Display Fast Time Award and four top-10 finishes on the season. This Saturday, Brody will be looking for the second USAC/CRA triumph of his career.

Richard Vander Weerd (Visalia, California) ranks second in the chase for the championship. Driving the family owned #10 Vander Weerd Construction / Stone Gate Development Maxim, Richard ran second to Austin Williams at the “Salute to Indy.” At press time, the 2011 USAC West Coast Champion has two heat race victories, four top-10 finishes, and 21 feature laps led in the campaign. Currently tied with Garrett Hansen for nineteenth on the series win list, Vander Weerd will have his sights on claiming his sixth USAC/CRA victory.

After running third in the “Salute to Indy,” Jake Swanson (Anaheim, California) has climbed to third in the USAC/CRA point chase. Racing Tom and Laurie Sertich's #92 Huntington Beach Glass & Mirror / Clackamas Rigging & Transfer Victory, Swanson has one Woodland Auto Display Fast Time Award, one heat race victory, one Brown & Miller Racing Solutions Semi-Main win, and four top-10 finishes on the season. The 2012 Rookie of the Year will be looking to earn his first Perris main event win at “Moose Night.”

Mike Spencer (Temecula, California) is fourth in the championship point standings. Debuting the Gansen Engineering Motorsports owned #4S Trench Shoring / Sander Engineering Maxim, Spencer drove to fourth at the “Salute to Indy” after starting eighth. To date, the five-time champion has four top-10 finishes and 21 feature laps led on the year. Currently ranked second on the USAC/CRA win list, Mike will have his sights on claiming his thirty-eighth triumph.

Jake Swanson (Anaheim, California) sits fourth in the USAC/CRA point standings. Racing Tom and Laurie Sertich's #92 Huntington Beach Glass & Mirror / Clackamas Rigging & Transfer Victory, Swanson earned the Woodland Auto Display Fast Time Award and ran sixth at Ventura. To date, the 2012 Rookie of the Year has one heat race victory, one Brown & Miller Racing Solutions Semi-Main win, and three top-10 finishes. This Saturday, Jake will have his sights on his first USAC/CRA triumph at Perris Auto Speedway.

After winning the “Salute to Indy” on May 28th, Austin Williams (Yorba Linda, California) has risen to fifth in the championship chase. Piloting Jack Jory’s #2 John Jory Corporation / AMA Plastics Spike, Williams has three top-10 finishes and 30 feature laps led to his credit. The 2009 Rookie of the Year is tied with Darren Hagen and Kevin Swindell for twenty-first on the series win list and will be looking to claim his fifth main event.

Currently ranked seventh in points, Max Adams (Loomis, California) leads the chase for Rookie of the Year honors. Trent Williams (Victorville, California), Andrew Sweeney (Lomita, California), and Mikey Lovas (Wildomar, California) are also in contention.

Among the other drivers expected to be in action are “The Demon” Damion Gardner, “The Cadillac” Cody Williams, “The Bear” Jeremy Ellertson, A.J. Bender, Logan Williams, Jace Vander Weerd, Chris Gansen, “Thunder” Tommy Malcolm, Verne Sweeney, and more.

Perris Auto Speedway is located on the Lake Perris Fairgrounds at 18700 Lake Perris Drive in Perris, California. Adult tickets are $25, Senior tickets (65 and over) are $20, Active Military (with ID), Students (13-18 with School ID), and Kids tickets (6-12) are $5. Children’s tickets (5 and under) are FREE.
