It was a good weekend at the Weikert Memorial , good crowds and car counts . I am sure that this weekend will continue to grow over the years . How would you improve this event ? is my question to all readers or participants of this message board . I have my thoughts on it, what's yours ?

As usual you say you have your thoughts but neglect to divulge what they are but not to worry, the people who are actually involved with putting on the Weikert Memorial are already hard at work on next years race. I'm sure Danny Dietrich will be asking fans their opinions on various ideas over social media just like he's done over the past couple of years so I don't think they need you to do it for them.

I will divulge anything if asked or if I care to , I was waiting to see other opinions on topic. But my feeling is yes ideas will come from the Weikerts , Deitrichs or all involved . But I would like to see the other tracks cooperate so that other teams would come to Port Royal for this show , and to either have it on Thurs--Fri--Sat or Fri--Sat --Sun on Memorial day weekend ,a different point system making it  mandatory you run all three nights smiliar to other tracks  , making last night the big race and added bigger  purse . Just my ideas , I'd  like to see  more cars and maybe a little larger crowd and could possibly generate even more interest . Monday is a tough day to have closing night , because of family obligations and going back to work following day .

Other tracks need to worry about themselves. If they have an opportunity to make a buck, they have every right to do it without giving a shit what is going on at another track. Williams Grove and Lincoln did just fine as did Port. As far as the 3 day show, I'll bet the farm that next year it's only two days (Saturday & Sunday). Memorial Day races have been tried in the past and they didn't work. Judging by the car count and lack luster crowd before the rains came, I don't think it's going to work now either. Sure the weather may have kept some folks away but it was going to be a piss poor crowd regardless. The car count wasn't exactly fantastic either. Racing on Thursday night would just be flat out stupid. Most people still have to work on Friday before being off for a long weekend. They don't need to do anything more than have a 2 day show with a nicely structured purse. Also, you mentioned making the point system function in a way that requires everyone to be there for each race. Once again, VERY stupid. Why the hell would you want to discourage teams and possibly the fans they bring with them from attending even if it's for one night? That's money that could be made that they'd just throwing away for no reason. If they miss a race, they're already out of the points anyhow so why would you want to do that? Port Royal and all involved with this show just need to keep doing what they're doing. Every year it just gets better and this year was amazing. Can't wait until we get to do it again next year.

I too, believe it will only be a two day show next year (Saturday and Sunday).  Also, maybe have the All Stars come in for that weekend.

2020 Race Count:
Lincoln 4
Port Royal 3
BAPS 1

Robert, I would like you to get in touch with God and make sure it's not so hot next year, I would also like to see you Robert, doing more for us fans. I want you to spend your money on give aways for me and my kids, I would like air conditioned bathrooms, hundreds of them. I would like you to organize a dance with live entertainment, and someone good too, no local shit band, I want some big entertainment like Guns and Roses. I want someone to wait on me hand and foot and pay for all my food. Don't care about the racing Robert, just want more free shit. Now take that to all your promoter friends and make it happen biotch! If not please stop asking what we want.

Robert how can you say you'd like to "see maybe a little larger crowd."  Were you not there on Saturday and Sunday?  Good Lord that place was packed!

Monday's crowd would have been lackluster yes, but the car count wasn't horrible and it was a great field of cars again.

As far as the 2017 Weikert, I'd like to see Saturday/Sunday with Monday used as a makeup for either of those two days.

Purse was fine for Saturday/Sunday.  And to be in the point money, yes, you'd have to run both nights.  If Selinsgrove or Lincoln are both open on that Saturday night, that's fine, nothing you can do about that.

I doubt you'll see a sanctioning body for this event, Weikert's moved it off the normal All Star weekend so the big money could stay local, but outsiders have every right to come in and race, and I for one, am very happy the western PA guys, the All Stars, and David Gravel showed up to race.  So BIG kudos to those guys, it was very much a pleasure to have all of them.

It was a good weekend, leave it the same as this year, the only way is pay more money. It would be nice not to have time trials at all, at least we only had to watch time trails once.

When in doubt gas it!!!

PACKED? With the amout of seating they have, that place will never be packed. EVER! It was never packed before. This phrase is used far to often by posters.

Apparently you haven't been to any Tuscarora 50's LATELY. The place has been PACKED many times. The grandstands and infield have both been PACKED.  Also opening day this year was PACKED. WIth the new stands added it may not get PACKED like it was for those races but it will still be full. Oh and PACKED, PACKED, PACKED, PACKED, lmao.

As usual some of you disagree with my comments and that is fine . But let me say this , it was a good crowd the first two days but for weather and other issues the crowd did not come out on Monday which  is ok . I do think the tracks need to cooperate more among each other for economic gain, not conflict when a special , one , two or three day show is staged . This cooperation exists between several tracks but to make racing even better to attract crowds , more cars even though the counts were good for the first two days . Working together will produce win win situations for all concerned  , sharing the wealth , and more will keep our racing number one . Also I am sure the Weikert family will do what they think best to see this show grow .

I think it was Mandatory to run Mufflers last weekend at Port Royal, did it hurt The GOOD SOUNDING SPRINTCAR SOUND, MUCH ? IMHO THE SOUND IS FIRST what grabs my ATttention, if they ever take the sound away from the sprintcars it will be A SAD DAY IN MOTORSPORTS !!!!!! frown

It has been mandatory to run mufflers at Port for at least two and maybe three years now. You never notice it until  like Sunday when you have URC there when one immeditly follows the other.

I notice the difference. Mufflers suck.

As usual fiXXer you turn around what I say , ok maybe bad word selection on my part ? but tracks need to work together to have profitable races not always run against one another , as happens alot on Saturday when tracks run bigger races . I am simply saying when certain races are scheduled why run that night , to allow cars and fans to come to a race . Or another example would be one your tracks Wms Grove would cry if another track ran against them with the same division splitting cars and fans , well this was avoided on June 10th luckily . I don't want any track to lose money but sometimes working together is the best way to go so they all show profits . Can you get my drift now ? It is not about our favorite tracks but getting along to make the  shows better and profitable. But yes the race mentioned at Port Royal was successful but could have been ever better .

Simple Definition of packed

  • : pressed together so there is very little space between the parts or pieces

  • : filled with a large amount of something

  • : full of people : filled with as many people as possible

Have been to many Tuscarora 50's. Has never been packed, never will be. Very good, excellant, large, very large, crowds are all definitions that are actually true.

Watch out, Captain Douchebag of the grammar police is on the prowl. Get over yourself fool. And I doubt you've ever been to one T50 let alone many, lol. And by the way, you may want to look at that second definition of PACKED. I do believe the speedway has been filled with a large amount of something, like maybe people. You sir, are an idiot. See you at Port tomorrow night. Oh wait, you won't be there. PACKED, PACKED, PACKED!

LOL, I'm not a Steelers fan, but I might become one now. i like it, and yes, Port was packed, and so were the parking lots. It was great that the fans supported the speedway and the Weikerts. And I am one that doesn't believe that the three big 410 tracks need to close for each other.  They all do for the Outlaws, which is fine, Lincoln doesn't run during Port's Dream Race and T-50, and Port doesn't run for one of Lincoln's big races.

For next year's Weikert Memorial, if Port can have Friday night and not the Grove then run Friday - Sunday night.  If not, I agree with the Saturday and Sunday shows, and Monday as the rain date.

It was a great weekend.  Spoke to the Weikert family twice, extremely nice people just like their dad was.  Showed them some of the Weikert/Kauffman stuff I have.  They were very interested in seeing it and we even reminisced some too.  Kauffman, Wolfgang, Weld and Davis.
