Good article. Sometimes I have to remind my self when I'm walking through the pits before a race and wonder why these guys are stoic and seem unfriendly, that they are doing this as their job and livlihood. I can't think of another form of racing, dirt or asphalt, where guys can lose their rides at a drop of the hat like sprint car racing.

Joey is a good driver, but in virtually every interview I've ever read of his, he's either down on himself or thinking he's going to get canned from the ride. I appreciate his honesty, but that must weigh on him alot in the car.

Joey is a realist and a very smart guy and not afraid to open up his thoughts and feelings about a sport that both he and his Father have been in for decades and decades. He's the same in real life and it's refresening to talk with the man and so much fun as well. He is first and foremost an excellent Father and Husband and everything else is put into perspective in his life as it should be. It is a plus in my life that I can call him and Shannon friends and I just wish I could see them more often. Don't ever be afraid to talk with Joey and ask questions just be prepared to hear honest answers with no filler he may not be a man of many words but they are all the truth and very much real, what more could one ask?
