FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

96 ENTRIES FILED FOR 2016 CALIFORNIA MICRO SPEEDWEEK

by Steven Blakesley

SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA (May 9, 2016) - The 2016 California Speedweek does not get underway until July 5-9 for Micro Sprints, but officials have released an entry list today totaling 96 cars. Racing will take place for Super 600, Non-Wing, and Restricted Micro Sprints at Dixon Speedway, Delta Speedway, Plaza Park Raceway, and Lemoore Raceway.

Fields are limited to a total of 130 cars with 50 Super 600, 50 Non-Wing, and 30 Restricted cars. Drivers are competing for $54,000 in cash, the coveted carved bear trophies, and numerous prizes throughout the race week. Most notably, the first day of open entry on the series website has sold out the Restricted division. Entry is still open for the other two divisions on the series website www.caspeedweek.com

The Restricted field includes Delta Speedway track champion Caden Sarale and third in 2015 Speedweek restricted points Joey Ancona. Arizona is represented by Dale Eliason, Jr. and Don Heath, while Colby Thornhill and Peyton Hagen will represent Washington and AJ Harbaugh and Theron Smith will travel from Oregon. Canadian Ben Silliker has relocated to Lemoore, CA and will represent the Great White North.

The 34 cars entered thus far in Super 600 are a "who's who" including multiple drivers that will run both Non-Wing and Super 600 such as Austin Stone and Oklahoma City's Trey Marcham. Marcham won the 2015 Non-Wing portion of the Tulsa Shootout. 2015 CA Speedweek Super 600 champion Michael Faccinto is entered to try to defend his crown. 2015 CA Speedweek Restricted co-champs Brooklyn Holland and Greg Decaires IV have both advanced to Super 600 to challenge California standouts such as Jake Hagopian, Gio Scelzi, and Jake Andreotti. Jesse Schlotfeldt will represent Washington while Arizona drivers Colton Hardy and Tyler Merrill are entered as well.

The most diverse field of out of state talent is represented in the Non-Wing division's 32 entries. 2015 Speedweek champion TJ Smith will battle with five Arizona entrants, three from Oklahoma, and two from Washington. 2015 Micro Sprint Nation hard charger winner Tristan Guardino, Delta Speedway Speedweek feature winner KJ Snow, and Lemoore Raceway feature winner Ben Worth have also entered.

Both Non-Wing and Super 600 will race for $1000 to win each night and $2000 for their week-long championship, while Restricted will compete for $700 to win and $1500 for the champion.

Points and prize payouts can increase with additional sponsor support as well. Fast-times will also pay cash, while certificate and product sponsorships will be presented to heat race winners, hard chargers, and more

The race format will use a points format to narrow the fields down to three 22 car feature events each night. Non-Wing and Super 600 features will be 30 laps, while the Restricted will go 25.

Race night tickets will be priced the same as a regular event at each of the four facilities, while pit passes will be $25. Race fans can also choose to view the races on live Pay Per View courtesy of Kyler Shaw & Fast Four Media. The shows will be a multi-camera presentation with a pre- and post-race show all four nights. Online purchases are open now at www.fastfourmedia.org for $20 for each individual night or $65 for the four race pass.

Sponsorships are available for the California Speedweek with interested parties encouraged to contact Speedweek Director Steven Blakesley at (916) 316-4854 or [email protected]
