From my point of view it looked like Shane had a huge run on Jason and almost ran into the back of him half way down the front straight before diving inside at the last moment.
That shocked the crap out of Jason and he was not a happy camper on that move in a heat race. Maybe Shane should have put on the binders and backed out, but as I said it appeared to me that he had a huge run.
In the end it all worked out, the invert put Jason on the pole instead of Shane.
Dirty, dirty... nah

I loved the move he put on Johnson in that heat race. Johnson did that same kinda stuff to people all the time when he was in ASCS. What goes around comes around. Nobody crashed and Johnson came out of it fine anyway.

Johnson actually panicked when Stewart came in and showed him the right rear.....Johnson instintively turned like he was avoiding a dear. Watch the tapes of Kinser or Wolfgang and Swindell.....or today Schatz....when a move like that was put on them thay stayed in the gas and went in hot persuit.....they were ready for someone to come through with just inches to spare and they stayed on line. Once a driver discovers another driver is going to go into avoid mode they'll keep on doing it. Also, there is a "push" bar on the front of those sprinters, also. Sometimes it needs to be used to provide a little nudge!

I agree 100% DW. JJ can't take near as well as he gives.

Things like that will happen every race. If a driver consistently does this then MAYBE you can call him/her a dirty driver, but Shane Stewart is hardly that... a dirty driver. Wait...he does drive on dirt....so if that's what you mean then yes, him and all the other sprint car drivers who drive on dirt are dirty drivers.

I saw the pass from Turn 1 on Saturday night, and to call it "dirty" is a bit extreme. I would agree that it was very aggressive, but he left JJ options. However, I think the more important topic should be the fact that it was the ONLY significant pass in any of the 3 heat races or the dash. I know they had a lot of rain in Dallas last week, and the race track was fast and fairly narrow for the heat races, but it was still very obvious how difficult it was to pass. In my opinion, what Shane did was representative of what it takes to make a pass with the current rules and conditions they had on Saturday night.

Yeah, other than the Shane Stewart pass it was nothing but three high speed freight trains. Devils Bowl is always like that when it's tacky though.
