OSKALOOSA, Iowa (July 4) — The 14th Annual Greiner Buildings Stock Car Shootout presented by Mike's Tire & Alignment and PBM Performance Products was held on Wednesday night, July 4, at the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, Iowa. The USRA Stock Car main event went to Zack VanderBeek, taking his second win of the night and capping off an outstanding performance with the $2,000 top prize.

In the USRA Hobby Stock feature, Bill Gibson and Rick Landgrebe led the field to the green flag with Gibson taking the lead. Gibson held off the field and several challenges from Wade Francis, Jason McDaniel and Landgrebe. Francis and Gibson exchanged the lead but Gibson took the lead back on lap 15 then took the checkers on lap 20. McDaniel nabbed the runner-up spot, followed by Landgrebe in third and Don Nunnikhoven racing his way from 18th to finish fourth.

The main event for the USRA Stock Cars was the 25-lap, $2,000-to-win Greiner Buildings Stock Car Shootout presented by Mike's Tire & Alignment and PBM Performance Products — and it was an all-out shoot-out for the lead with three-wide racing for much of the race. Matt Greiner, Brad Pinkerton, Nathan Wood, Pat Rachels and VanderBeek all mixed it up for the lead. The trio of Pinkerton, Greiner and VanderBeek thrilled the crowd with three-wide action for 12 straight laps before VanderBeek took the lead for good and held on for the win the final four laps for the nice payday. A.J. Johnson raced is way from ninth to finish second with Greiner in the third spot and last year's winner, Rachels, taking fourth.

VanderBeek also won the MUSCO Lighting USRA Modified feature, while Brett Moffitt earned another feature win in the USRA B-Mods.

Next week's action will be Oskaloosa Chamber of Commerce Night for the USRA Casey's General Stores Weekly Racing Series with all four classes action. Gates open at 5:00 p.m. with hot laps at 7:15 and racing to follow.

The Southern Iowa Speedway is located one half-mile west of US 63 on SR 92, then four blocks north on N. I St. (at the Southern Iowa Fairgrounds). For day-of-race information, call the track hotline at (507) 634-4281 or visit www.rlpromotions.com/oskaloosa online.
