I heard the All Star race @ I-96 is a lease deal.

Is it still going to happen?

And if so, anyone have the inside scoop on who will do the track prep, ASCoC, or I-96? Reason for asking is every big 410 show I've gone to there recently is horribly dry and a terrible show.

Could be a great show with good prep, hope I-96 isn't in control of it. If so, maybe ASCoC could put some heat on them to water it.

Heck if it is going to be that slick at I-96 then the SOD 360's should head out to I-96 and go sailing by the All Star regulars!

I heard this weekend at the All Stars Fall Brawl that it was off! Guy Webb was going to lease the track and is backing out due to too many contract problems. I96 wanted to keep concessions and some other stuff and he wanted to have all the extras since he was leasing the track for the night.. Not the 1st time this has happened when the All Stars lease a date and a track. Hopefully, they can get whatever conflicts they have in their leasing a track contact they have so some of them work in the future. Sounds like the Oct IL show is off too. From many teams I talked to, the Hoosier Fall Classic will be the last race on the 07 All Star tour.

Nothing has been confirmed on either of those races, Duane.

Keep us posted, it's a good date, could be a great show. I've been there a few times that late in the year and when the weather has been nice, they have packed the place.

What is the Oct. date is Webb trying to get an Illinois show? Hopefully for the fans and the drivers in the MO, IL area it won't conflict with the Queens Royale in Farmington, MO. This is the best race of the year with the biggest payout of the year for sprinters in this part of the country. It would be a shame for everyone involved if this were to happen.

Oct 5 Morgan Co IL, has been on the All Star schedule all year, it wasnt an add on date, so it wasnt a last minute deal to ruin any other show.

Hold the phone on the I96 deal, I stepped on my wee wee and it IS NOT a total wash yet. Somethings still could happen to make the race a go. A few new developements over the weekend may allow the race to happen yet. I hope is does happen because the place is usually packed and a decent show.

These two dates are not a conflict. The Queen's Royale is scheduled for Saturday, October 6. It has been on the schedule since January. Traditionally it pays $6,000 to win. With the All-Stars racing on Friday at Jacksonville the hope is that some of them would come to Farmington to race for a larger purse on Saturday, and to Tri-City in Pontoon Beach/Granite City IL (new 3/8 mile track) and race for $3,000 to win on Sunday, October 7. Past winners of the Queen's Royale include Kelly Kinser (1995, 1998, 2001), Danny Smith (2000, 2006), Tim Montgomery (2002, 2005), Danny Lasoski 1996, Lee Dunn 1997, Joey Montgomery 2003, and Shane Stewart 2004. Other notable entries have included Bobbie Davis Jr., Jimmy Carr, Terry McCarl, Gary Wright, Randy Kinser, Craig Dollansky, Paul McMahan, Mike Ward, Daryn Pittman, Brian Brown, Randy Hannagan, Kevin Swindell, Greg Wilson, and Dale Blaney.

Hey we'll gladly welcome the All Stars to the Grove for the Open the weekend of I-96. They're a fine organization which even though I'm from PA had the chance to follow quite a bit this season with the couple of trips into PA and fact that PA and OH Speedweeks were different weeks, minus the PA opener and the OH Finale.

Thanks for the kind words. We're looking forward to coming back in 2008. Great tracks and great people over there...and the competition level - well - speaks for itself.

From All-Stars Press Release:

Battle of the 'burg: Wilson vs. Smith for $50,000
Friday, 07 September 2007

ImageCAMARGO, IL (9-7-07) The 2007 O'Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions season has shaped up to be possibly the closest points battle in the series history. With Greg Wilson leading Danny Smith by just 3 points heading into the Hoosier Fall Classic, the two will go head to head for the $50,000 championship which will be decided on September 14th and 15th in Southern Indiana.

The race scheduled on September 29th at I-96 Speedway has been canceled. The event at Morgan County Speedway in Jacksonville, IL on October 5th will become a non-points race. This event was originally slated as a Midwest All Star Series sanctioned race that will pay $5000 to win, but will not carry the full All Star purse. The decision was then made to make the Hoosier Fall Classic a championship event weekend to close out the season. Wilson and Smith will have two nights of racing on a fast ¼ mile bullring to determine who will walk away with the 2007 O'Reilly All Star Championship.

Whatever that means!!

What that means is the track is not paying the full amount for an All Star sanctioned event. They are however paying $5000 to win and the payout back through the field is reduced. This was originally slated to be "co-sanctioned" with the Midwest All Stars and it will still be a Midwest All Star points race, but due to the reduced purse the All Stars will not make this a points race for the "big" series. Long story, but this was done in an effort to work with the promoter to keep the race on the schedule. The All Stars will be encouraged to attend, but will not be required. I'm sure most of them will still go after the $5000 winner's share.
