ALL USAC CRA, WESTERN CLASSIC & WEST COAST SPRINT RACERS NEED TO READ THIS.

I figured it was easier to just explain all this myself, instead of putting it in a press release. We are going to be going to several race tracks coming up very shortly, that have very strict noise restrictions.

Ventura is May 10th. You must be have one of the spec mufflers listed in their rules. I spoke to Jim Naylor and he will also allow the Flowmaster Suitcase muffler.

May 16th at Ocean is the strictest track. John Prentice had a long, expensive lawsuit because of noise at the track. Ocean Speedway now must be at 90 decibels @ 100 feet. That is 5 decibels quieter than last year. ALL cars at Ocean Speedway are now running the Flowmaster Suitcase part# 53545-10. If you run the Flowmaster Suitcase you have nothing to worry about. John tested several mufflers and that was the only muffler that meets the noise ordinance. If you show up with a different muffler and are over 90 decibels, you will not be allowed to compete.  There is no judgment call here. The state of California will be at the track checking decibels. If you have a question about this PLEASE call me. Do not question it on the Internet. Remember, just because you met the sound requirement last year at Ocean Speedway, does not mean you will meet it this year. It is now 5 decibels quieter.

We will also be going to Petaluma Speedway and Silver Dollar Speedway this year. Both tracks also have VERY strict noise restrictions. Both tracks basically have the same philosophy. If you show up with the Flowmaster Suitcase, based on experience and testing, they already know your car will be quiet enough. If you show up with a different muffler, you will be under the microscope and be checked by the decibel meter each time you are on the track. If you do not meet the sound requirement, you will be disqualified.

You guys can get upset if you want, but we are backed in a corner and there isn't much we can do about it. This isn't going to go away. It will only get more strict. The Lawsuit at Ocean Speedway has set the bar for noise in California.

Kaeding Performance and BR Motorsports will both offer a discounted price to USAC Members. Part number for the Flowmaster Suitcase will be 53545-USAC

Flowmaster Suitcase #53545-10

Ocean Speedway, Petaluma Speedway, Silver Dollar Speedway approved muffler

Flowmaster Suitcase #53545-10

Basically the moral of this story is that if you have the Flowmaster Suitcase you will be legal. You may show up with whatever muffler you want, but it is at your own risk that you will or will not meet the sound requirements.

I can tell you this, because I am sure it is next question, I am talking to Flowmaster right now about being a sponsor of all 3 series next year. I will not make it a spec muffler without some type of financial benefit to the USAC racers in 2015. Unfortunately with California cracking down, and tracks going to the Flowmaster, we are kind of backed in a corner unless we really want to limit the tracks we can race at.

I will say that Extreme Muffler was the first contingency sponsor that Lance Jennings got for USAC in 2010 and they have stuck with us since and I appreciate that. Extreme Muffler gives the winner of Heat Race #1 at each CRA, Western Classic and West Coast Sprint Car race a $100 certificate. I am working with Flowmaster right now to finish out the year with us, as a contingency sponsor also!

Thank you,
Chris Kearns- USAC
